Specifications from Teltonika's official product data for the RUT976, checked October 2026.

The RUT976 RedCap 5G Router in depth

RedCap 5G with 4G LTE Cat 4 fallback

The RUT976 is an industrial RedCap 5G router (3GPP Release 17 RedCap) supporting SA architecture, positioned between traditional 4G and full-capacity 5G. The 5G Sub-6GHz module delivers 223 Mbps DL and 123 Mbps UL, with low latency. Where 5G coverage is limited, the router is backward compatible with 4G LTE Cat 4 at 195 Mbps DL and 105 Mbps UL. Two Mini SIM (2FF) slots support auto-switching on weak signal, data limit, SMS limit, roaming, no network and other cases. eSIM is available on selected order codes and requires different hardware.

Interfaces for industrial deployments

Alongside Wi-Fi 4 (up to 100 simultaneous connections), the RUT976 has one 10/100 Mbps WAN port and three 10/100 Mbps LAN ports. A DB9 RS232 socket and a 6-pin RS485 socket cover serial devices. A 10-pin industrial socket and the 4-pin power connector provide digital and analog inputs and outputs, including an SPST relay output. A USB 2.0 port, an internal Micro SD slot of up to 2 TB and GNSS with geofencing round out the hardware. Supported protocols include Modbus, DNP3, DLMS/COSEM, BACnet, OPC UA and MQTT.

Security, management and build

The router runs RutOS, an OpenWrt-based Linux OS, and supports OpenVPN, IPsec, WireGuard, GRE, L2TP, DMVPN and more, plus a firewall, VLANs and 802.1x. It can be managed through the WebUI, SSH, SNMP, TR-069 and Teltonika Remote Management System (RMS). The aluminium housing with plastic panels measures 110 x 50 x 100 mm and weighs 295 g. It is rated IP30 for -40 °C to 75 °C operation and accepts 9 - 30 VDC, with passive PoE possible through the LAN1 port. DIN rail, wall and flat surface mounting each require an additional kit.

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about the RUT976 RedCap 5G Router from the ARC IP Networks team. Last reviewed October 2026.

The Teltonika RUT976 is an industrial RedCap 5G router supporting SA architecture. It has dual SIM slots with auto-failover, Wi-Fi, GNSS, four 10/100 RJ45 ports, RS232, RS485 and multiple I/Os.

On 5G Sub-6GHz SA it supports up to 223 Mbps DL and 123 Mbps UL. On 4G LTE Cat 4 it supports up to 195 Mbps DL and 105 Mbps UL.

Yes. Where 5G coverage is limited, the RUT976 is backward compatible with 4G LTE Cat 4.

The RUT976 supports up to 100 simultaneous Wi-Fi connections using 802.11b/g/n (Wi-Fi 4) in Access Point or Station mode.

It has one RS232 (DB9) socket and one RS485 (6-pin) socket. It also has digital, galvanically isolated and analog inputs, open collector outputs and an SPST relay output.

It uses a 4-pin industrial DC power socket with a 9 - 30 VDC input range and reverse polarity and surge protection. Passive PoE (Mode B, 9 - 30 VDC) is possible through the LAN1 port but is not compatible with IEEE 802.3af, 802.3at or 802.3bt. Power consumption is under 3 W idle and under 7 W at maximum.

The box contains the RUT976 router, a 9 W PSU, 2 x 5G mobile antennas, 2 x Wi-Fi antennas, a GNSS antenna, an RS485 connector block, an I/O connector block, a 1.5 m Ethernet cable, a SIM adapter kit, a Quick Start Guide and the packaging box.
