Frequently Asked Questions

What is the DS-96128NXI-S24R and how many cameras does it support?

The Hikvision DS-96128NXI-S24R is a 128-channel, 4U rackmount Network Video Recorder from the S Series with AcuSense AI technology. It accepts up to 128 IP cameras at resolutions up to 32 MP, making it one of the highest-capacity NVRs in its class. It is designed for large-scale enterprise, campus, and critical-infrastructure surveillance deployments.

What AcuSense features does the DS-96128NXI-S24R S Series NVR provide?

The AcuSense S Series platform combines NVR-side and camera-side AI analytics. The NVR provides facial recognition, perimeter protection (8-channel simultaneous, up to 2 MP), and video structuralization. When paired with AcuSense cameras, every channel gains perimeter protection, motion detection 2.0, ANPR, people counting, and VCA. AcuSearch allows post-event searching across up to 32 NVR channels or all camera channels at up to 345,600 targets per day.

How many hard drives does the DS-96128NXI-S24R support, and what RAID modes are available?

The DS-96128NXI-S24R is equipped with 24 SATA interfaces accepting 3.5-inch hard drives at up to 20 TB each, yielding a maximum raw capacity of up to 480 TB. It supports RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5, RAID 6, and RAID 10, with N+M hot-spare capability. A dedicated eSATA port provides additional external storage expansion. In RAID mode, incoming bandwidth is 640 Mbps and outgoing is 512 Mbps.

What video output options does the DS-96128NXI-S24R offer?

The NVR features four HDMI outputs and two VGA outputs. HDMI 3 supports up to 8K (7680 × 4320) at 30 Hz for ultra-high-resolution video walls. HDMI 1 and HDMI 2 each support up to 4K (3840 × 2160) at 60 Hz. HDMI 4 and both VGA outputs support 1080P at 60 Hz. Four configurable output modes allow simultaneous, independent, or combined 8K+4K+1080P display configurations to suit any control-room layout.

Does the DS-96128NXI-S24R have a redundant power supply?

Yes. The DS-96128NXI-S24R includes a built-in redundant power supply rated at 100–240 VAC, 50–60 Hz. Power consumption is ≤ 100 W without HDDs installed. Redundant power ensures the NVR continues operating without interruption if one power module fails, a critical requirement for 24/7 security surveillance in mission-critical environments.

Is the Hikvision DS-96128NXI-S24R certified for use in Australia?

Yes. The DS-96128NXI-S24R carries RCM (Regulatory Compliance Mark) certification required for the Australian and New Zealand markets, along with CE, CB, IC, RoHS, REACH, WEEE, and UKCA certifications for global compliance. It is available from Australian stock held by ARC IP Networks, ensuring rapid delivery without the lead times associated with international sourcing.

Professional Overview

The Hikvision DS-96128NXI-S24R is the flagship model of the S Series, purpose-built for large-scale, enterprise-grade IP video surveillance. Accepting up to 128 cameras at resolutions reaching 32 megapixels, it delivers the channel density and bandwidth — 1,024 Mbps incoming, 800 Mbps outgoing — that complex installations demand. The rackmount 4U chassis houses 24 SATA bays for up to 480 TB of raw storage, backed by comprehensive RAID 0/1/5/6/10 protection to safeguard critical footage around the clock. Its four-port network stack (4 × 10/100/1000/2500 Mbps Ethernet) and full ONVIF, ISAPI, and SDK support guarantee seamless integration into existing enterprise infrastructure.

AcuSense artificial intelligence sits at the core of the DS-96128NXI-S24R’s detection engine. The NVR-side AI processes facial recognition across up to 64 libraries containing 300,000 stored face pictures, compares live captures at 24 frames per second across 16 simultaneous channels, and applies perimeter protection across 8 simultaneous channels at up to 2 MP. When paired with AcuSense-enabled cameras, every one of the 128 channels gains independently processed perimeter protection, ANPR, people counting, and motion detection 2.0 — returning only actionable human and vehicle events to operators rather than noise-driven alerts.

Display flexibility is equally impressive. The DS-96128NXI-S24R supports four configurable video output modes spanning six simultaneous outputs: HDMI 3 reaches true 8K (7680 × 4320) for ultra-high-resolution video walls, HDMI 1 and HDMI 2 each deliver 4K at 60 Hz, and a dedicated HDMI input with loopback enables direct source pass-through to a display without disturbing the NVR’s own outputs. Sixteen-channel synchronous playback at up to 32 MP with H.265+/H.265/H.264+/H.264 decoding ensures investigators can review multi-camera incidents in real time.

Built for continuous 24/7 operation, the DS-96128NXI-S24R features a fully redundant power supply (100–240 VAC) rated at ≤ 100 W without HDDs, an operating temperature range of −10 to 55 °C, and comprehensive alarm I/O (32 in / 16 out) with RS-232 and RS-485 serial interfaces for PTZ and peripheral integration. It carries RCM certification for the Australian market alongside CE, CB, IC, RoHS, REACH, WEEE, and UKCA marks for global compliance. Australian stock from ARC IP Networks.
