AcuSense FAQ — DS-2CD2086G2H-I2U-SL-BLK

What is the DS-2CD2086G2H-I2U-SL-BLK and what makes it different from a standard Hikvision bullet camera?

The DS-2CD2086G2H-I2U-SL-BLK is an 8 MP (4K) AcuSense mini bullet network camera in a black finish with active deterrence capabilities. Unlike a conventional bullet camera, it combines deep-learning-based human/vehicle classification with a built-in strobe light and audible alarm, allowing it to warn off intruders in real time without relying on a separate siren or light unit. The dual built-in microphones and alarm speaker add two-way audio and on-site acoustic warning in a single compact body.

What does AcuSense technology do and how does it reduce false alarms?

AcuSense is Hikvision’s deep-learning AI engine embedded in the camera’s processor. It analyses each motion event and classifies the target as a human, vehicle, or non-threat (animals, swaying leaves, rain, headlights). Only human and vehicle targets trigger perimeter protection alarms such as line crossing, intrusion, region entrance, or region exiting. This classification-at-edge approach dramatically cuts nuisance alerts, ensuring operators and security staff only respond to genuine security events.

How does the /SL strobe light and audible alarm work on this camera?

The “/SL” designation identifies the Strobe Light variant of the DS-2CD2086G2H-I2U. When AcuSense detects a human or vehicle crossing a configured trigger zone, the camera can automatically activate its visible white strobe flash and emit a configurable audible alarm tone from the built-in speaker. These active deterrence outputs can also be triggered remotely via the VMS, Hik-Connect, or Hik-Central platforms, and all alarm linkage actions (strobe, audio, recording, email, FTP upload) are configurable per rule.

What is the night vision range and low-light performance of the DS-2CD2086G2H-I2U-SL?

The camera uses Hikvision’s Powered by DarkFighter technology with an F1.0 aperture to achieve colour imaging at just 0.0008 Lux and black/white imaging at 0 Lux using the 850 nm IR illuminator. The smart IR system extends up to 40 m and automatically adjusts output intensity to avoid overexposure as subjects approach the lens. The 2.8 mm lens on this SKU gives a DORI detection range of 89 m, observation at 35 m, recognition at 17 m, and identification at 8 m.

What power options does the DS-2CD2086G2H-I2U-SL-BLK support?

The camera supports two power methods: 12 VDC (± 25%, max. 15 W) via the included Ø5.5 mm coaxial power plug, or Power over Ethernet (PoE) compliant with IEEE 802.3at Class 4 (max. 18 W). The higher PoE class reflects the additional power draw of the strobe light and speaker. A standard 802.3af switch will not supply sufficient power; a Class 4 / 802.3at (PoE+) switch or injector is required.

Is the DS-2CD2086G2H-I2U-SL-BLK suitable for outdoor installation in Australia?

Yes. The camera is rated IP67 per IEC 60529-2013, meaning it is fully protected against dust ingress and against water immersion up to 1 m. It operates across a wide temperature range of −30 °C to 60 °C with up to 95% relative humidity, making it suitable for Australian climates from tropical Far North Queensland to alpine conditions. The all-metal body (front cover, main body, and bracket) provides robust physical protection. RCM certification (AS/NZS CISPR 32:2015) confirms compliance with Australian/New Zealand EMC requirements.

Professional Overview

The Hikvision DS-2CD2086G2H-I2U-SL-BLK is an 8 MP (4K UHD) AcuSense mini bullet network camera designed for perimeter protection and active deterrence in commercial, retail, and critical infrastructure environments. Built around a high-quality 1/1.8″ progressive scan CMOS sensor delivering a maximum resolution of 3840 × 2160, it captures fine detail across a 105.1° horizontal field of view provided by the 2.8 mm fixed lens — covering car parks, building entrances, and open perimeters from a single compact unit in a discrete black finish.

The camera’s AcuSense deep-learning engine classifies detected motion as human, vehicle, or non-threat, ensuring that only genuine intrusion events trigger its perimeter protection rules: line crossing, region intrusion, region entrance, and region exiting. Combined with the on-board face capture function, the system builds a comprehensive audit trail of all human activity within the monitored zone. The 2.8 mm lens delivers DORI distances of 89 m (detect), 35 m (observe), 17 m (recognise), and 8 m (identify), giving operators precise situational awareness at each classification threshold.

The “/SL” (Strobe Light) designation sets this model apart from standard AcuSense bullet cameras: when AcuSense triggers a perimeter alert, the camera can immediately activate its built-in white strobe flash and emit a configurable audible warning from the integrated speaker, deterring intruders at the moment of detection rather than merely recording them. Powered by DarkFighter technology with an F1.0 aperture, the camera maintains colour performance down to 0.0008 Lux and switches to 0 Lux black/white imaging via the smart 850 nm IR system with 40 m adaptive range. H.265+ compression reduces storage requirements by up to 50% compared with H.265, and the on-board microSD slot (up to 512 GB) provides edge-recording continuity during network interruptions.

Rated IP67 and RCM-certified (AS/NZS CISPR 32:2015), the DS-2CD2086G2H-I2U-SL-BLK is engineered for long-term outdoor deployment across all Australian climate zones, backed by Hikvision’s 3-year Australian warranty. The all-metal construction, IEEE 802.3at PoE+ power input, and compatibility with iVMS-4200, Hik-Connect, and Hik-Central ensure seamless integration into new and existing Hikvision ecosystems.
