The TP-Link ER7212PC is an Omada 3-in-1 gateway that combines a gigabit VPN router, an 8-port PoE+ switch with a 110 W budget and a built-in Omada controller in one fanless steel box: 12 gigabit ports including two SFP ports, up to four WAN links, IPsec, SSL, OpenVPN and WireGuard VPN, and cloud management through the Omada app.

ER7212PC overview

The ER7212PC is designed for small businesses and well-equipped homes that want a complete Omada network without a stack of separate boxes. TP-Link calls it a 3-in-1 gateway: it is the router and firewall, it is an eight-port PoE+ switch that can power access points, cameras and phones directly, and it runs an Omada controller internally, so the access points and switches it powers can be managed centrally without an OC200, a PC or a cloud controller.

It has 12 gigabit ports in total: two gigabit SFP WAN/LAN ports for fibre or SFP modules, one gigabit WAN port, one gigabit LAN/WAN port and eight gigabit LAN ports. That allows up to four WAN connections for load balancing and failover. The eight LAN ports supply IEEE 802.3at PoE+ from a 110 W budget, enough for several Omada access points or PoE cameras. The unit is fanless, built in a steel enclosure with 6 kV surge protection, measures 226 x 131 x 35 mm, and can be mounted on a desk or wall, or in a rack with the rackmount kit sold separately. Power comes from the included 53.5 V / 2.43 A adapter.

VPN capability is strong for its size. TP-Link lists 20 IPsec tunnels, 80 SSL VPN tunnels, 16 OpenVPN, 16 L2TP and 16 PPTP tunnels, plus WireGuard, and it can act as a VPN client to up to ten servers. TP-Link's measured IPsec throughput is about 985 to 990 Mbps (for example 990.5 Mbps with ESP-SHA2-AES256), with NAT throughput of about 940 to 948 Mbps, 50,000 concurrent sessions and 3,800 new sessions per second. Hardware is a step up from entry gateways, with 2 GB of DDR4 memory and 8 GB of eMMC storage.

Because the controller is built in, the ER7212PC brings Omada management features straight out of the box: automatic device discovery, intelligent network monitoring, abnormal-event warnings, unified configuration, reboot schedules and captive-portal configuration for guest Wi-Fi, with cloud access through the Omada app. SD-WAN is available in controller mode. TP-Link publishes different figures for how many devices the built-in controller manages across its AU page and datasheet, so for larger networks talk to us about whether a dedicated Omada controller is the better fit.

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about the ER7212PC from the ARC IP Networks team.

Last reviewed October 2026.

It combines three devices: a gigabit VPN router, an 8-port PoE+ switch with a 110 W budget, and a built-in Omada controller that manages Omada switches and access points.

Eight PoE+ (802.3at) ports with a total PoE budget of 110 W, enough to power several Omada access points, PoE cameras or phones.

Not for smaller networks: the controller is built in. TP-Link quotes different managed-device figures on its AU page and in its datasheet, so for larger networks ask us whether a dedicated controller is the better choice.

Up to four: two gigabit SFP WAN/LAN ports, one gigabit WAN port and one gigabit LAN/WAN port, with load balancing and failover.

IPsec (20 tunnels), SSL VPN (80 tunnels), OpenVPN, L2TP and PPTP (16 tunnels each) and WireGuard. TP-Link measures IPsec throughput at about 990 Mbps with ESP-SHA2-AES256.

Yes. It is fanless, in a steel enclosure with 6 kV surge protection.

Yes, with the rackmount kit, which is sold separately. It can also sit on a desk or mount on a wall.

The ER7212PC, a power adapter, a power cord and a quick installation guide, according to TP-Link's published package contents.

Choose the ER7212PC if you also need PoE for access points or cameras and want the controller built in. Choose the ER605 for a compact, router-only gateway.

Yes. ARC IP Networks supplies genuine TP-Link ER7212PC gateways with the full TP-Link manufacturer's warranty.
