The TP-Link EAP660 HD is an Omada AX3600 dual-band ceiling mount Wi-Fi 6 access point built for busy, high-density environments. Eight spatial streams (4x4 on each band) deliver up to 2402 Mbps on 5 GHz and 1148 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, with 4x4 downlink MU-MIMO, OFDMA and 1024-QAM, and TP-Link lists 1,020+ concurrent clients and up to 200 square metres of coverage. A 2.5 Gbps multi-gigabit Ethernet port carries the extra bandwidth and accepts 802.3at PoE+, or the AP can run from the included 12 V DC adapter. It has Bluetooth 5.2, up to 16 SSIDs and captive portal, and is managed through Omada cloud, hardware or software controllers with mesh and 802.11k/v/r roaming.

The TP-Link EAP660 HD is an Omada AX3600 high-density Wi-Fi 6 ceiling mount access point with eight streams: 4x4 on 5 GHz for up to 2402 Mbps and 4x4 on 2.4 GHz for up to 1148 Mbps. It supports 1,020+ concurrent clients and up to 200 square metres of coverage, has one 2.5 Gbps Ethernet port powered by 802.3at PoE+ or 12 V DC (adapter included), Bluetooth 5.2, and Omada SDN with mesh and roaming.

EAP660 HD overview

The EAP660 HD is TP-Link's Omada AX3600 dual-band ceiling mount Wi-Fi 6 access point, with HD standing for high density. TP-Link says it delivers reliable connectivity and enhanced capacity for busy environments, using core Wi-Fi 6 technologies to manage more simultaneous connections and keep the user experience stable and consistent. Its headline is eight-stream dual-band Wi-Fi 6: 2402 Mbps on 5 GHz and 1148 Mbps on 2.4 GHz. That 2.4 GHz figure is double that of typical 2x2 AX3000 access points, because the EAP660 HD runs 4x4 radios on both bands. TP-Link notes that maximum signal rates are physical rates from the IEEE 802.11 specifications and actual throughput, coverage and connected devices will vary.

Capacity is the reason to choose this model. The AU product page lists 1,020+ concurrent clients (the datasheet headline says up to 1,000+ concurrent connections in crowded environments) and coverage of up to 200 square metres (2,150 sq ft), both based on laboratory testing. MU-MIMO is 4x4 downlink on both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, and OFDMA, 1024-QAM, the 4x longer OFDM symbol and beamforming are supported; TP-Link explains that OFDMA allows multiple devices to share channels efficiently, reducing latency and improving performance in dense environments. The internal omni antennas are 4 x 4 dBi on 2.4 GHz and 4 x 5 dBi on 5 GHz. The datasheet also lists RF scan, WLAN optimisation and lock to AP.

To keep up with the radios, the wired uplink is a single 100M/1G/2.5G multi-gigabit RJ45 port rather than a Gigabit port. TP-Link describes it as optimised wired performance for higher bandwidth and faster Wi-Fi, and the port supports IEEE 802.3at PoE+ input (42.5 to 57 V, 0.6 A). Alternatively, the AP can run from 12 V DC (12 V / 2 A), and a power adapter is included in the box. Maximum power consumption is 25.5 W (EU) or 22.3 W (US). To get the full benefit of the 2.5G port, connect it to a 2.5G switch port; it also works on Gigabit ports.

The housing measures 220 x 220 x 32.5 mm and the main unit weighs 0.75 kg. Mounting kits for ceiling, wall and junction box installation are included (the datasheet also lists T-bar mounting), along with a cable compartment cover. A Bluetooth 5.2 (BLE) radio is built in. It operates from 0 to 40 °C and is CE and FCC certified. Wireless functions include up to 16 SSIDs (eight per band), band steering, load balance, airtime fairness, rate limits, WMM QoS, reboot and wireless schedules and statistics by SSID, AP or client.

Security covers captive portal authentication, access control, wireless MAC filtering, client isolation, SSID-to-VLAN mapping, rogue AP detection, 802.1X and WEP, WPA, WPA2 and WPA3 Personal/Enterprise. Management options are HTTP/HTTPS, SSH, SNMP v1/v2c/v3, local and remote syslog, L3 and multi-site management, a management VLAN, management MAC access control and LED control. It is managed centrally through Omada cloud-based, hardware or software controllers and the Omada app. Cloud access requires an Omada controller, zero-touch provisioning requires the Omada Cloud-Based Controller, and captive portal, Omada mesh and 802.11k/v/r seamless roaming work with an Omada controller.
