The TP-Link EAP625GP-Wall is an Omada AX1800 Wi-Fi 6 wall-mount GPON access point for FTTR/FTTH deployments in hotels, MDUs and similar point-to-multipoint sites. A single fibre to its SC/APC GPON port (ITU G.984.x, Class B+, 2.488 Gbps down / 1.244 Gbps up, up to 20 km) carries wired, wireless, voice and video services, and the unit adds one FXS port for an analogue phone and two Gigabit RJ45 ports, with ETH0 providing up to 15.4 W of 802.3af PoE out for a camera or IP phone. Dual-band 2x2 Wi-Fi 6 delivers up to 1201 Mbps on 5 GHz and 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz with OFDMA and MU-MIMO, and the AP works with Omada OLTs, switches, gateways and controllers for unified management and zero-touch provisioning.

The TP-Link EAP625GP-Wall is an Omada AX1800 Wi-Fi 6 wall plate access point with a built-in GPON uplink, designed for fibre-to-the-room and fibre-to-the-home deployments. It has one SC/APC GPON port, one FXS phone port and two Gigabit RJ45 ports, one of which supplies 802.3af PoE out (15.4 W), plus 1201 Mbps on 5 GHz and 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, mesh, seamless roaming and Omada SDN management.

EAP625GP-Wall overview

The EAP625GP-Wall is TP-Link's Omada AX1800 Wi-Fi 6 wall plate GPON access point. TP-Link designed it specifically for FTTR and FTTH deployments, where it integrates with the Omada Optical Networking Solution to deliver enterprise-grade Gigabit Passive Optical Networking. The complete solution combines Omada GPON access points with Omada switches, gateways, OLTs (optical line terminals) and ONUs (optical network units), and TP-Link positions it for point-to-multipoint environments such as hotels and multi-dwelling units. Within the solution all devices support unified management, easy adoption and setup, and zero-touch provisioning.

The defining feature is the fibre uplink. Instead of a copper Ethernet backhaul, the EAP625GP-Wall connects to the network through one SC/APC GPON port built to ITU-984.x and G.988 with a Class B+ optical budget. It runs at 2.488 Gbps downstream and 1.244 Gbps upstream over 9/125 µm single-mode fibre, with a maximum cable length of 20 km. A GPON LED on the front shows registration with the OLT: green when registered, flashing green while registering, flashing red when no or too weak an optical signal is received, and solid red when blocked by the OLT. TP-Link sums it up as one fibre for multiple services: wired, wireless, voice, VoIP, data and HD video.

Around the fibre sit three local ports. There is one FXS (RJ11) port for an analogue telephone, and two 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ45 ports for devices such as PCs, TVs, cameras and IP phones. The key difference from the EAP615GP-Wall is that the EAP625GP-Wall's ETH0 port supplies 802.3af PoE out, up to 15.4 W in total (53.5 V, 0.287 A), so a PoE camera or phone can be powered directly from the wall plate. The unit itself is mains powered (100 to 240 V AC, 50/60 Hz, 0.5 A), with maximum consumption of 30.5 W at full 15 W PoE out load and 6.5 W idle. Because of the PoE circuitry it is also slightly deeper and heavier than its non-PoE sibling: 143 x 86 x 44.6 mm and 0.35 kg.

The wireless side is dual-band 2x2 Wi-Fi 6 (IEEE 802.11ax) with uplink and downlink MU-MIMO and OFDMA, 1024-QAM and transmit beamforming. Signal rates are up to 1201 Mbps on 5 GHz with HE80 channels and 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz. Internal omni antennas are 2 x 4 dBi on 2.4 GHz and 2 x 6.5 dBi on 5 GHz. TP-Link lists coverage of 50 square metres (600 sq ft) and 120+ concurrent clients, with a datasheet maximum of 128 associated stations; these figures come from laboratory testing and real results vary with the environment and client traffic. TP-Link notes that maximum signal rates are physical rates from IEEE 802.11 specifications and actual throughput is not guaranteed.

Wi-Fi functions include up to 16 SSIDs (eight per band), band steering, load balance, airtime fairness, rate limits, guest network, automatic channel assignment, WMM QoS, RADIUS accounting, MAC authentication, URL filtering and wireless schedules. Omada mesh and 802.11k/v/r seamless roaming require an Omada controller, as do captive portal authentication and multiple portals; PPSK is listed in the datasheet. Security covers WPA3, WPA2 and WPA Personal/Enterprise, 802.1X, MAC filtering, client isolation, SSID and dynamic VLANs and rogue AP detection. It can be managed standalone through the web interface, SSH and SNMP v1/v2c/v3, or centrally by Omada cloud-based, hardware or software controllers; the datasheet lists Omada Controller V5.15.24 and above and Omada App V5.0 and above. It is rated for 0 to 40 °C operation and carries CE, FCC and IC certification.

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about the EAP625GP-Wall from the ARC IP Networks team.

Last reviewed October 2026.

It is an Omada AX1800 Wi-Fi 6 wall plate access point with a built-in GPON uplink, designed for fibre-to-the-room and fibre-to-the-home deployments such as hotels and MDUs.

Both have the same Wi-Fi 6 radio, GPON port, FXS port and two Gigabit ports. The EAP625GP-Wall adds 802.3af PoE out (up to 15.4 W) on its ETH0 port; the EAP615GP-Wall has no PoE out.

Single-mode 9/125 µm fibre to the SC/APC GPON port. It is ITU G.984.x Class B+, runs at 2.488 Gbps down and 1.244 Gbps up, and supports up to 20 km of fibre. It registers with a GPON OLT.

It is mains powered at 100 to 240 V AC, 50/60 Hz. It does not take PoE in; instead it supplies PoE out on one Ethernet port.

An 802.3af device drawing up to 15.4 W in total, such as an IP phone or a PoE camera.

Yes. It has one FXS (RJ11) port for an analogue telephone, and the Gigabit ports can serve IP phones.

Up to 1201 Mbps on 5 GHz and 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz with 2x2 MU-MIMO. These are maximum physical rates; actual throughput varies.

TP-Link lists 50 square metres (600 sq ft), calculated from laboratory testing; real coverage depends on the building and clients.

It supports standalone web management, but mesh, seamless roaming, captive portal and centralised management need an Omada controller, and zero-touch provisioning needs the Omada Cloud-Based Controller. The datasheet lists Omada Controller V5.15.24 and above.
