The TP-Link DS110GMP is an Omada 10-port gigabit unmanaged desktop switch with eight 802.3af/at PoE+ ports: up to 30 W per port and a 123 W total PoE budget, nine gigabit RJ45 ports plus one gigabit combo SFP/RJ45 port, Extend Mode up to 250 m, and Priority, Isolation and PoE Auto Recovery modes. It is plug and play and fanless.

DS110GMP overview

The DS110GMP is TP-Link's Omada 10-port gigabit desktop switch with 8-port PoE+. It has nine 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ45 ports and one 1000 Mbps combo SFP/RJ45 port, all with auto-negotiation and auto MDI/MDIX. Ports 1 to 8 deliver PoE to IEEE 802.3af/at compliant powered devices, with up to 30 W per PoE port and a total PoE power budget of 123 W. TP-Link notes that the PoE budget calculations are based on laboratory testing, and that the actual PoE power budget is not guaranteed and will vary as a result of client limitations and environmental factors. PoE power is carried on the RJ45 pins 3 and 6 (positive) and 1 and 2 (negative), and one cable carries both data and power.

Four port modes are built into the switch, each tied to specific ports. Extend Mode on ports 1 to 4 allows data and power transmission up to 250 m (820 ft); TP-Link states that in Extend Mode the port speed downgrades to 10 Mbps, and that the actual transmission distance may vary due to the power consumption of PoE-powered devices or the cable quality and type. Priority Mode gives ports 1 and 2 high priority, which TP-Link says protects the quality of sensitive applications. Isolation Mode provides one-click client traffic separation, on ports 1-4 / 5-8, for higher security and performance. PoE Auto Recovery automatically reboots dropped or unresponsive PoE-powered devices.

Performance figures from TP-Link: switching capacity is 20 Gbps, the packet forwarding rate is 14.88 Mpps, the MAC address table holds 4K entries with auto-learning and auto-aging, and jumbo frames of up to 16 KB are supported, with store-and-forward transmission. IEEE 802.3x flow control is used in full-duplex mode and backpressure in half-duplex mode. Supported standards are IEEE 802.3i, 802.3u, 802.3x, 802.3af, 802.3at and 802.3z. The DS110GMP is plug and play, with no configuration or central management required. TP-Link's datasheet also states that Omada unmanaged switches do not support Omada SDN central management, so the DS110GMP is not managed from an Omada controller.

The switch is fanless, measures 209 x 126 x 26 mm (8.2 x 4.9 x 1.0 in) and has a physical security lock. LEDs show Power, Link/Act, PoE Status and PoE Max. Power comes from an external adapter with a 53.5 VDC / 2.43 A output. Maximum power consumption is 7.93 W with no powered device connected and 141.40 W with 123 W of powered devices connected (220 V / 50 Hz); maximum heat dissipation is 27.04 BTU/h and 482.17 BTU/h respectively. It is rated for 0 to 40 °C operation at 10 to 90% RH non-condensing and carries FCC and CE certification. In the box are the DS110GMP, a power adapter and an installation guide. ARC IP Networks supplies the DS110GMP from Australian stock with the full manufacturer's warranty.
