The TP-Link Deco X50 Pro (3-pack) is an AX3000 whole home mesh Wi-Fi 6 system of three Deco X50 Pro units. Each unit is dual band with 2402 Mbps on 5 GHz (802.11ax, HE160) and 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, two 2.5 Gbps WAN/LAN auto-sensing ports, HomeShield security and Deco app setup. TP-Link lists coverage of up to 600 m² for the 3-pack, rated for 4-6+ bedroom houses.

Deco X50 Pro (3-pack) overview

The Deco X50 Pro is TP-Link's AX3000 whole home mesh Wi-Fi 6 unit, and this 3-pack contains three of them. TP-Link says Deco whole home mesh Wi-Fi with Wi-Fi 6 is designed to deliver a big boost in coverage, speed and total capacity. Each unit is dual band, with Wi-Fi speeds of 2402 Mbps on 5 GHz (802.11ax, HE160) and 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz (802.11ax), and supports IEEE 802.11ax/ac/n/a on 5 GHz and 802.11ax/n/b/g on 2.4 GHz, so older Wi-Fi devices still connect. TP-Link sums this up as Wi-Fi 6 speeds up to 3.0 Gbps across four streams (2x2 HE160 on 5 GHz plus 2x2 on 2.4 GHz), with up to 160 MHz bandwidth and 1024-QAM. These are maximum physical signal rates derived from the IEEE 802.11 standard; TP-Link notes that actual throughput, coverage and the number of connected devices are not guaranteed and vary with network conditions, client limitations, building materials, obstacles, traffic and client location. Wi-Fi 6 features such as OFDMA, MU-MIMO, 1024-QAM and HE160 require clients to support them too, and the 160 MHz bandwidth may be unavailable on 5 GHz in some regions because of regulatory restrictions.

Coverage depends on the pack size, and TP-Link's page states it directly: up to 600 m² for the 3-pack, compared with 420 m² for the 2-pack and 230 m² for a single unit. The specification table rates the 3-pack for 4-6+ bedroom houses. The three units work together as one mesh network using TP-Link Mesh technology with optional Ethernet backhaul, and AI-Driven Mesh intelligently learns the network environment to provide Wi-Fi unique to your home, with Deco using custom algorithms to automate the connections on your network. Each unit has three internal antennas forming a signal-boosting array to cover more directions and larger areas. Capacity is rated High: the dual-band design distributes devices across bands, 2x2 MU-MIMO communicates with multiple MU-MIMO clients simultaneously, OFDMA does the same for multiple Wi-Fi 6 clients, and four streams provide bandwidth for connected devices. TP-Link also says the system connects over 150 devices, subject to the same not-guaranteed condition above.

The headline hardware feature is 2.5G on every port. Each Deco X50 Pro has two 2.5 Gbps ports with WAN/LAN auto-sensing, so one can match a 2.5G internet connection while the second is used as a wired backhaul between Deco units or as a LAN port for a device. TP-Link adds the conditions: 2.5 Gbps internet speeds require compatible service plans and equipment, all ports operate as either WAN or LAN, and only one port can serve as the WAN port at a time. Actual speed can also be limited by the Ethernet port rate, the cable and internet service provider factors. Each unit runs in Router Mode or Access Point Mode, has a reset button, and supports Dynamic IP, Static IP, PPPoE, PPTP and L2TP WAN types with IPv4 and IPv6. Seamless roaming forms one Wi-Fi name as you move through the home; TP-Link notes clients need to support 802.11k/v/r for this and may require additional setup.

Security includes an SPI firewall, access control and HomeShield Security with real-time IoT protection, a malicious site blocker, an intrusion prevention system, DDoS attack prevention and a home network scanner, plus WPA, WPA2 and WPA3-Personal encryption and guest networks on both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. HomeShield includes the free Basic Plan, and TP-Link states fees apply for the Pro Plan. Parental controls listed are custom profiles, a professional content filter library, Family Time, Bedtime, Off Time, Time Rewards, Family Online Time Ranking, Pause the Internet and weekly and monthly reports. Other software features are HomeShield QoS and QoS by device, IPTV (IGMP proxy, IGMP snooping, bridge, tag VLAN), port forwarding, UPnP, DHCP address reservation, TP-Link DDNS and OTA firmware upgrades. Setup takes three steps in the Deco app: connect to a modem and power on both, download and launch the app, and follow the in-app instructions. The system works with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, and Deco X50 Pro is compatible with every other Deco model. The 3-pack box holds three Deco X50 Pro units, one RJ45 Ethernet cable, three power adapters and a quick installation guide. Each unit measures 110 x 110 x 114 mm and operates at 0 to 40 degrees C.
