The TP-Link VIGI NVR2016H-16MP lists the largest PoE budget and the most bandwidth of TP-Link's three VIGI NVR2016H models. Sixteen PoE+ ports share a 140 W budget, bandwidth is 320 Mbps in and out, and it adds AI by NVR (motion, line crossing and intrusion detection with human and vehicle classification) on up to four channels, alongside two 16 TB SATA bays, eSATA, 6/4 alarm I/O and independent 4K HDMI and VGA.

VIGI NVR2016H-16MP overview

The VIGI NVR2016H-16MP shares its sixteen PoE+ ports and 330 x 285 x 45 mm dimensions with the NVR2016H-16P, but TP-Link lists it with more power and more bandwidth. The sixteen RJ-45 10/100 Mbps PoE+ ports, compliant with 802.3at and 802.3af, share a 140 W budget with up to 30 W per port, against 90 W on the 16P. TP-Link notes the calculation is based on laboratory testing and that actual data is not guaranteed and will vary with client limitations and environmental factors. It runs from a 53.5 V DC 3.37 A supply and draws 6.2 W without disks and 40 W with disks.

Incoming and outgoing bandwidth are both 320 Mbps, double the 160 Mbps of the 16P and the non-PoE NVR2016H. Decoding capability is listed as ten channels at 3MP or sixteen at 1080p at 25 fps, and four channels at 8MP, six at 5MP or eight at 4MP at 30 fps. Sixteen channels play back synchronously; TP-Link notes fewer than 16, or none, may play if total resolution exceeds 32MP. HDMI reaches 3840 x 2160 at 30 Hz and VGA 1920 x 1080 at 60 Hz, as independent outputs, with up to sixteen windows.

The 16MP is the NVR2016H model whose page lists Intelligent Analytics. AI by NVR provides motion detection, line crossing detection and intrusion detection, enhanced with human and vehicle classification for more accurate alerts, on up to four channels simultaneously. AI by Camera, when used with cameras that support it, lists people and vehicle attributes analytics, motion, intrusion, line-crossing, region entering and exiting, object abandoned and removal, loitering, people, vehicle, abnormal sound and scene change detection. TP-Link notes the alarm function requires the use of a camera.

Storage is two SATA interfaces supporting up to 16 TB per drive plus one eSATA interface; TP-Link states a hard disk drive (not included) must be installed for operation. One-Click System Initialise handles quick camera additions, HDD initialisation and storage scheduling with a single click. Other connections include a 10/100/1000 Mbps uplink, front USB 2.0 and rear USB 3.0, 1-channel RCA audio in and out, and six alarm inputs and four alarm outputs. Interoperability is ONVIF Profile S and CGI. The unit weighs 2.2 kg, and TP-Link recommends a tray (not included) for rack mounting with angle iron. The box contains the recorder, power adapter, power cable, HDD power and data cables, mounting accessories, mouse and quick installation guide.
