The TP-Link VIGI NVR1004H-4P is a 4-channel network video recorder with four built-in 10/100 Mbps PoE+ ports, so up to four cameras can be powered and connected directly from the recorder. TP-Link lists a 53 W PoE budget with up to 30 W per port, 80 Mbps incoming bandwidth, one SATA bay supporting up to 10 TB, 4K HDMI plus VGA output and H.265+ compression. This listing is supplied without a hard drive.

VIGI NVR1004H-4P overview

The VIGI NVR1004H-4P is TP-Link's 4-channel PoE+ recorder in the VIGI NVR range. Its defining feature is four RJ-45 10/100 Mbps PoE+ ports on the rear panel, compliant with 802.3at and 802.3af, which both connect and power up to four IP cameras without a separate PoE switch. TP-Link lists 53 W available across all PoE+ ports with a maximum of 30 W on any one port; the company notes that PoE budget figures are based on laboratory testing, that the actual budget is not guaranteed and that it will vary with client limitations and environmental factors. The recorder is powered by a 53.5 V DC 1.31 A supply and draws up to 4.25 W without a disk or 13.10 W with a disk.

Channel count and bandwidth match the non-PoE NVR1004H: four IP channels, 80 Mbps of incoming and 60 Mbps of outgoing bandwidth, and record resolutions from 8MP through 5MP, 4MP, 3MP, 1080p and lower. Decoding capability on the specification table is two channels at 8MP or four at 4MP at 25 fps, and four channels at 4MP or three at 5MP at 30 fps. Four channels play back synchronously; TP-Link notes fewer than four, or none, may play if total resolution exceeds 16MP. Compression is H.265+, H.265, H.264+ and H.264.

Storage is a single SATA interface supporting a drive of up to 10 TB. TP-Link's page also shows a version sold with a 2 TB drive preinstalled; the unit on this listing is supplied without a hard drive, so add a surveillance drive of your choice before recording. Auto Initialise then sets up basic IPC and hard disk parameters in one click. Recording is manual, scheduled or motion triggered, with instant, regular, tag and event playback and regular or video clip backup. HDMI reaches 3840 x 2160 at 30 Hz and VGA 1920 x 1080 at 60 Hz, running simultaneously, with one or four window layouts.

Other connections are one 10/100 Mbps uplink Ethernet port, one front and one rear USB 2.0 port, and one audio input and output; there are no alarm terminals or serial port. Smart alarms, which require a camera, include line-crossing, intrusion, region entering and exiting, loitering, object abandoned or removed, vehicle and human detection, abnormal sound, scene change and Smart Frame, with recording, white light, buzzer, log and audible alarm linkage. Interoperability is listed as ONVIF and CGI, and TP-Link's footnote says this model currently supports ONVIF Profile S/T/G. Remote viewing works from Android and iOS phones and Chrome, Firefox and Edge browsers.
