Ubiquiti UVC-G6-Pro-Entry: doorbell, intercom and access reader in one

The Reader G6 Pro Entry is a door entry system rather than a plain camera. It combines a 12 MP Camera, a second downward-facing package camera, two-way audio, a 75 mm (3") diagonal touchscreen and credential reading — and it integrates natively with both Protect and Access.

People generally search for this as a doorbell, and it does that job: visitors press the ring button, you get video and two-way audio. But it also acts as an access-control reader, unlocking the door via NFC, Bluetooth or Apple Touch Pass, which a doorbell alone cannot.

Two cameras: door view and package view

Unusually, it has two separate cameras.

The package camera is the practical difference from an ordinary doorbell: a second downward-facing lens so you can see parcels left on the doorstep, which the main camera's field of view misses. It runs at a lower frame rate because it does not need motion fidelity — it needs to show what is on the ground.

The main camera's very tall field of view is deliberate for a door: it captures a caller's face and the ground in front of the door at the same time.

ApplicationsUniFi Protect and Access

At Max. 1000 nits (Typical) the screen stays readable in direct sun, which matters on a west-facing entrance. Because it runs both UniFi Protect and UniFi Access, the same device records video to your Protect recorder and grants entry through UniFi Access — one device, one console, no separate intercom system.

Two points worth understanding before you order.

First, IP55 with an "outdoor covered" rating means it is built for a doorway with some shelter — a porch, recessed entry or awning. It is not intended for a fully exposed wall in driving rain.

Second, the wall mount, gangbox mount plate and 20° wedge mount are included; a junction box mount is the optional extra. The wedge is genuinely useful for angling the unit toward an approach path rather than straight out from the wall.

The device tolerates -30 to 50° C (-22 to 122° F), though note the display is rated slightly narrower than the device itself.

Power and network

Power methodPoE+

ProcessorQuad-core Arm® Cortex®-A53 based chip

It is PoE+ powered at up to 18W, so a standard PoE+ port runs it — a single Ethernet cable to the door carries power, video, audio and door control. That is the main installation advantage over a traditional intercom with its own wiring and power supply. You will need a PoE+ switch port; ordinary 802.3af PoE at 15.4W is below its 18W maximum.

Who the G6 Pro Entry suits

  • Homes wanting a proper doorbell with package view and local recording rather than a cloud subscription.
  • Businesses needing entry control — staff unlock with NFC, phone or Apple Touch Pass while visitors use the intercom.
  • Existing UniFi sites, since it appears in the same console as your cameras, switches and gateway.
  • Sheltered entrances — porches, lobbies, recessed doorways.
  • Replacing an intercom with something that also records video and reads credentials over one Ethernet cable.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the UVC-G6-Pro-Entry a doorbell?

Yes, and more. Ubiquiti calls it the Reader G6 Pro Entry — a door entry system with a ring button, 12 mp camera, two-way audio and a 75 mm (3") diagonal touchscreen. It also reads access credentials, so it works as an access-control reader as well as a doorbell.

Does it have a package camera?

Yes. It has two cameras: Main camera: 12MP Package camera: 8MP. The second, downward-facing camera is there to show parcels left at the door, which the main camera's field of view does not cover.

What resolution is the camera?

Main camera: 12MP Package camera: 8MP.

How well does it see at night?

It has built-in infrared illumination with an IR cut filter, rated to 5 m (16 ft).

How do people unlock the door with it?

Via BLE 4.1 NFC credentials, or Touch Pass. Access rules are managed in UniFi Access.

Is it weatherproof enough for an exposed door?

It is rated IP55 for outdoor covered use, so it suits a sheltered entrance such as a porch, recessed doorway or awning rather than a fully exposed wall.

How is it powered?

PoE+ over a single Ethernet cable, drawing up to 18W. Note that standard 802.3af PoE at 15.4W is not sufficient — you need a PoE+ port.

What mounts are included?

The wall mount, gangbox mount plate and 20-degree wedge mount are included. A junction box mount is available as an option.

Does it need a UniFi Protect recorder?

It integrates with UniFi Protect for video recording, so you need a Protect-capable console or recorder on the network. It also integrates with UniFi Access for door control.

Is there a monthly subscription?

No. UniFi has no recurring subscription for Protect or Access — footage records locally to your own recorder.

How vandal-resistant is it?

Rated IK07 LCM IK04, in an aluminum enclosure, with a tamper switch among its buttons.
