The TP-Link UA520C is a USB Type-C to HDMI adapter that sends video at up to 4K 60 Hz from a laptop, tablet, phone or desktop to an external monitor or TV. It is plug and play on USB-C ports that support DP Alt Mode, with a 100 mm braided cable and an aluminium alloy case, and works with Windows, macOS, iPadOS, iOS, Android, Linux and Chrome OS.

UA520C overview

The UA520C is TP-Link's USB Type-C to HDMI adapter, built to put a laptop, tablet, phone or desktop on a bigger screen. Plug it into a USB-C port and connect an HDMI cable to a monitor, TV or projector, and it delivers an ultra high-definition picture at up to 4K at 60 Hz. TP-Link says it is designed to work with virtually any USB-C or HDMI device, naming MacBook Pro and iPad Pro, and it turns the USB-C port into an HDMI port instantly, with no extra installation.

The one requirement is on your device: its USB-C port must support video signal output, known as DP Alt Mode. Many laptops, tablets and phones do, but not every USB-C port carries video, so check your device's specifications before buying. With a compatible port, TP-Link lists support for Windows, macOS, iPadOS, iOS, Android, Linux OS and Chrome OS, covering desktops, phones, laptops and tablets. TP-Link adds that port transmission figures are its own laboratory results and real performance depends on the device.

The build is meant to last in a laptop bag. A flexible 100 mm braided cable sits between the plug and the adapter body, so the adapter does not block neighbouring ports and reduces interference with them, and the aluminium alloy case adds durability. The body measures 49.7 x 22.5 x 10.5 mm, compact enough to carry anywhere. In the box are the UA520C USB Type-C to HDMI adapter and a quick installation guide.
