The TP-Link VIGI C340I(2.8mm) is a 4MP outdoor IR bullet network camera with the wide 2.8 mm F2.2 lens, the widest of its three lens options, covering 88.8 degrees horizontally with published detection at 60 m. Under TP-Link's V1.2 specifications it has two 850 nm IR LEDs reaching 50 m, a built-in microphone, human and vehicle classification, an IP67 housing and PoE (802.3af/at) or 12 V DC power.

VIGI C340I(2.8mm) overview

TP-Link makes the VIGI C340I with 2.8 mm, 4 mm and 6 mm lenses, describing the choice as a wide-angle lens to cover enclosed spaces or a higher millimetre lens for longer distances in open spaces. This product is the 2.8 mm version, the wide-angle member of the family. Its aperture is F2.2 (the 4 mm and 6 mm versions are F2.0) and its field of view is 88.8 degrees horizontally, 48.9 degrees vertically and 106.5 degrees diagonally. DORI distances published for the 2.8 mm lens are detect 60 m, observe 25 m, recognise 12 m and identify 6 m. The camera records 4MP at up to 2560 x 1440 from a 1/3-inch progressive scan CMOS, which TP-Link says is more than enough pixels to pick up some of the more discrete details.

TP-Link lists two hardware versions of the C340I, and the figures on this page follow the current V1.2 specification published on the 2.8 mm lens page. Under V1.2 the bullet has two 850 nm IR LEDs with a 50 m range, an IR-cut filter, and a minimum illumination of 0.01 lux in colour and 0 lux with IR; the IR can run on auto, a schedule, always on or always off. Image quality is handled by SmartVid, which TP-Link says covers Smart IR, WDR, 3D DNR and night vision, together with BLC, HLC, digital WDR and protection against infrared overexposure. Up to four privacy masks and one region of interest can be set.

On the analytics side, integrated AI chips tell humans and vehicles apart from other objects so alarm rules can be customised for more accurate notifications. V1.2 lists intrusion, line-crossing, region entering and exiting, object abandoned or removal, abnormal sound, and people and vehicle detection, with motion detection enhanced by human and vehicle classification, video tampering detection and illegal-login exceptions, and alarms are delivered as push messages. The V1.2 built-in microphone records within a 5 m (16.4-ft) radius; there is no speaker and no onboard memory card slot, so recording is to an NVR. The main stream uses H.265+, H.265, H.264+ or H.264 at 256 Kbps to 4 Mbps.

The C340I is rated IP67 and TP-Link says it withstands -30 to 60 degrees C and performs well in harsh environments with rain and dust. It can be secured to a ceiling, pole or wall, and the V1.2 bracket offers 0 to 360 degrees pan, 0 to 90 degrees tilt and 0 to 360 degrees rotation. One 10/100M RJ45 port carries PoE (802.3af/at, class 0, max 5.5 W), or the camera can run from 12 V DC (max 5 W) via a 5.5 mm coaxial plug. The V1.2 body measures 78.50 x 188.03 x 71.55 mm and weighs 0.28 kg. TP-Link's overview names four management methods: the web UI, NVR UI, VIGI app and VIGI Security Manager, and ONVIF Profile S is supported. The box includes the camera, quick start guide, waterproof cable attachments and mounting accessories.
