The TP-Link VIGI C240(2.8mm) is a 4MP full-colour dome network camera fitted with the wide 2.8 mm F1.6 lens, giving a 95.7-degree horizontal field of view and published detection at 64 m. One IR LED and one white LED each reach 30 m, and it adds human and vehicle classification, a built-in microphone, a microSD slot, IK10 and IP67 protection, and PoE (802.3af/at) or 12 V DC power.

VIGI C240(2.8mm) overview

This listing is the 2.8 mm version of the VIGI C240, TP-Link's 4MP full-colour dome network camera. The 2.8 mm lens is the wider of the two C240 options: at F1.6 on an M12 mount it gives a horizontal field of view of 95.7 degrees, a vertical field of view of 51.7 degrees and a diagonal of 113.0 degrees. For that lens TP-Link publishes DORI distances of 64 m to detect, 27 m to observe, 13 m to recognise and 6 m to identify. Behind the lens sits a 1/3-inch progressive scan CMOS sensor with a 1/3 to 1/10000 s shutter and slow shutter support, recording a maximum of 2560 x 1440.

TP-Link describes the C240 as a camera that monitors 24-hour clear and colourful details even on a pitch-dark night, combining a large-aperture lens, a high-sensitivity sensor and attached supplemental lights. Those lights are one white LED and one 850 nm IR LED, each rated to 30 m, with auto, scheduled, always-on and always-off control and an IR-cut filter for day/night switching. Minimum illumination is listed as 0.005 lux in colour and 0 lux with IR or white light. Image tools include digital WDR, 3D DNR, BLC, HLC and Smart IR, an SNR of at least 52 dB, up to four privacy masks, one region of interest and 90 or 270 degree rotation, which TP-Link notes limits the frame rate to 20 fps.

Integrated AI chips separate humans and vehicles from other moving objects so alarm rules can be tuned for fewer irrelevant alerts. The specification lists area intrusion, line-crossing, people, vehicle, region entering and exiting, object abandoned, object removal and abnormal sound detection, plus motion detection enhanced with human and vehicle classification, video tampering detection and an illegal-login exception. Alarms can flash the white light and push a message. A built-in microphone records anything going on within a 15-ft radius of the camera; there is no built-in speaker. The main stream supports H.265+, H.265, H.264+ and H.264 at 256 Kbps to 4 Mbps with CBR or VBR, and the sub-stream runs H.265 or H.264 at 64 to 512 Kbps.

The housing is plastic but rated IK10 for vandal resistance and IP67 against rain and dust, with an operating range of -30 to 60 degrees C. Power comes from PoE (802.3af/at, class 0) through the 10/100M RJ45 port or from 12 V DC (max 5.4 W) through a 5.5 mm coaxial plug. The cable can be routed into a dropped ceiling or out through the side outlet to avoid drilling. Management is through the web UI, a VIGI NVR, the VIGI app or VIGI Security Manager, with ONVIF support, three simultaneous main streams and three sub-streams, and a microSD slot that the 2.8 mm lens page lists as supporting cards up to 256 GB. The dome measures 115 x 86 x 115 mm and weighs 0.28 kg.
