The TP-Link UE330C is two devices in one: a 3-port USB 3.0 hub and a USB Type-C to gigabit Ethernet adapter. Plugged into a USB-C port, it adds three USB-A 3.0 ports at up to 5 Gbps for a mouse, keyboard, drives or a printer, plus a 1000 Mbps RJ45 port, in a 31 x 23 x 96 mm body with plug-and-play support.

UE330C overview

The UE330C answers a common laptop problem: too few ports. TP-Link sums it up as carry one that equals two, because the UE330C is a 3-port USB 3.0 hub and a USB 3.0 Type-C to gigabit Ethernet adapter in a single body about the size of an Ethernet adapter alone. It plugs into one USB Type-C port on an ultrabook, Chromebook, laptop or desktop, and gives back three USB-A 3.0 ports and one gigabit RJ45 Ethernet port for simultaneous use.

The three USB-A ports support transfer speeds of up to 5 Gbps, which TP-Link says is 10 times faster than USB 2.0, and they are backward compatible with USB 2.0 and 1.1 devices. TP-Link pictures them in use with a mouse, a keyboard, a USB drive, an external hard drive and a printer. Bear in mind that all the ports share the single USB-C connection back to the computer.

The gigabit Ethernet port adds wired network connectivity at up to 1000 Mbps, which TP-Link describes as a reliable wired connection for the device. Actual network speed is also limited by the router or switch port, the cable and your internet service. TP-Link says an advanced chipset solution gives fast and stable connections across Windows, Mac OS X, Chrome OS, Linux, Nintendo OS and iPadOS.

The UE330C is plug and play, with no manual driver installation, on Windows 11, 10 and 8.1, Mac OS X El Capitan 10.11.6 and later, Chrome OS, Linux, Nintendo OS and iPadOS, with later OS versions to be supported; the specification lists Windows 7 and later and Mac OS X 10.9 and later as supported systems. It is compact and light at 31 x 23 x 96 mm. TP-Link's support page lists V1 and V2 hardware. In the box are the UE330C hub and adapter and a user guide.
