The TP-Link Tapo C212 is a 2K 3MP pan/tilt indoor security camera. It records 2304 x 1296 video, pans to cover a full 360°, tracks motion, and detects people and a crying baby. It connects over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi or a 100 Mbps Ethernet port and supports RTSP and ONVIF Profile S.

Tapo C212 overview

The Tapo C212 is a 2K pan/tilt camera for inside the home. TP-Link lists it as Tapo C212 V2 (1-pack), and it records 2K 3MP (2304 x 1296) from a 1/2.8-inch sensor through a 4 mm F2.4 lens. The frame rate is 15 fps by default and can be raised to 20, 25 or 30 fps, with H.264 compression and 3D DNR and WDR image enhancement; no digital zoom is listed. Night vision uses 850 nm infrared LEDs with an automatic switch filter for low light, and TP-Link rates the visual distance at up to 9 metres (30 ft).

The motorised base has a 340° pan mechanical range, giving 360° pan coverage, and a 70° tilt mechanical range. When motion activity is detected, the camera tracks and follows the subject to keep it within view. Its AI detection list covers motion, people and baby crying, and you can draw multiple custom activity zones to control which alerts you receive. Privacy zones keep chosen areas from being recorded, and privacy mode can be customised. The built-in microphone and speaker handle two-way audio with noise cancellation, and a sound and light alarm with a 90 dB siren (measured at 10 cm) can be triggered to frighten away unwanted visitors.

For networking, the C212 joins 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi (802.11b/g/n, up to 150 Mbps on 802.11n) or plugs into the network through its 100 Mbps RJ45 Ethernet port. Beyond the Tapo app, it supports RTSP and ONVIF Profile S, which TP-Link lists in its specifications. TP-Link's security list covers WPA/WPA2-PSK, 128-bit AES with SSL/TLS and on-device machine learning. Local recording uses a microSD card (up to 512 GB, sold separately); cloud recording uses Tapo Care, a subscription that also adds snapshot notifications. Funny clips and device access can be shared with family or guests through Tapo sharing.

Power is supplied by a 9.0 V / 0.6 A adapter on a 3-metre power cable, and a system LED shows status. The camera measures 86.6 x 85 x 117.7 mm and can be placed on a tabletop or mounted on a ceiling. Its operating range is 0-40 °C, and Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa can control it by voice. Packed with the C212 are a power adapter, quick start guide, mounting screws, mounting plate and camera base.
