The TP-Link Tapo A201 is a compact solar panel for Tapo battery cameras. It provides up to 2.5 W of charging power at a maximum of 5.2 V from monocrystalline silicon cells, through a Type-C output with a Type-C to Micro USB adapter included. Mount it with the camera for a unified look using the 0.25 m cable, or apart from it with the 3.8 m extension. It is IP65 weatherproof and connects to one camera.

Tapo A201 overview

The Tapo A201 is TP-Link's compact solar panel for Tapo battery cameras, measuring 173.42 x 120.42 x 15.7 mm. TP-Link lists it as working with the Tapo C400, Tapo C410, Tapo C420, Tapo C425 and more, with a link to the full list of supported models on its AU page. As with TP-Link's other Tapo panels, one solar panel can only connect to one camera.

The A201 is designed for two installation styles. Mounted together with the camera on the short 0.25 m charging cable, it gives a sleek, unified look; with the 3.8 m extension charging cable you can position it separately where it gets the most sunlight. The adjustable mounting bracket fixes to a wall or roof and lets you angle the panel to capture enough sun. TP-Link says it uses premium monocrystalline silicon cells, with a maximum charging power of 2.5 W and a maximum charging voltage of 5.2 V.

The output port is Type-C. Cameras with a Micro USB charging port need the Type-C to Micro USB adapter, which TP-Link includes in the box. The panel is IP65 weatherproof, which TP-Link says keeps battery cameras charged even in harsh environments with rain and dust, and it is wall-mounted. TP-Link rates it for operation from -20 °C to 45 °C, with battery charging to be kept between 0 °C and 45 °C, and storage from -40 °C to 60 °C. Operating humidity is 10% to 90% and storage humidity 5% to 90%, non-condensing. Certifications are CE, FCC and RCM.

TP-Link's package list for the A201 is the solar panel, an adjustable mounting bracket, six mounting screws and six anchors, a base cover, six waterproof gaskets, two screw caps, a cable zip tie, the extension wire, the Type-C to Micro USB adapter, two mounting templates and a quick start guide. Compared with the Tapo A200 and A202, the A201 is the smallest of the three panels and has the lowest maximum charging power at 2.5 W.
