The TP-Link PSM900-AC is a 900W AC power supply module for Omada and Omada Pro switches. It converts AC input (120-240V~ 50/60Hz in Australia) to 53.5 V DC at up to 16.5 A, for a maximum output power of 900W. It is fully hot-swappable, has output over-voltage, under-voltage, short circuit and over-current protection and ±6 kV surge protection, and TP-Link lists it as suitable for the SG6428XHP, SG6654XHP, S6500-24GP4XF, S6500-48GP6XF, S6500-24MPP4Y and S6500-48MPP6Y.

PSM900-AC overview

The PSM900-AC is TP-Link's 900W AC power supply module for Omada switches. TP-Link describes it as an AC-input and DC-output power supply module that can convert the input voltage to 53.5 Volts with a maximum output power of 900 Watts. Its DC output is rated at 53.5 V with up to 16.5 A of output current. The module is fully hot-swappable, which TP-Link says helps to ensure no system interruption during installation or replacement. TP-Link lists its specifications under the heading Redundant Power Supply, and states that the module is applicable to multiple TP-Link Omada and TP-Link Omada Pro switch models.

TP-Link names the switches the PSM900-AC is suitable for: the SG6428XHP, SG6654XHP, S6500-24GP4XF, S6500-48GP6XF, S6500-24MPP4Y and S6500-48MPP6Y. These are the only switch models TP-Link lists for this module, so check that your switch is on the list before ordering. The PSM500-AC and PSM900-AC share this list, the same 53.5 V output and the same dimensions, and differ in rated output: 500 W at up to 9.35 A for the PSM500-AC and 900 W at up to 16.5 A for the PSM900-AC. TP-Link's PSM550-AC is a different design, a 12 V module listed for the SX6632YF and S7500-26XF6Y, and it is not on the list for these switches. The comparison table below sets the three published specifications side by side.

On the input side, TP-Link gives two input ratings for the PSM900-AC: 120 (not included) to 240V~ at 50/60Hz, 10 A, for locations other than low-voltage locations, and 100-120V~ (inclusive) at 50/60Hz, 12 A, for low-voltage countries and regions. The datasheet lists those low-voltage countries and regions as Canada, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Japan, Mexico, Panama, Puerto Rico, Taiwan (China) and the United States; Australia is not on that list, so the 120-240V~ 10 A rating is the one that applies to Australian mains. Its DC output is specified as 53.5 V at 16.5 A. The datasheet also gives an altitude rating of sea level to 3000 m. For protection, TP-Link lists output over-voltage, under-voltage, short circuit and over-current protection, together with ±6 kV surge protection. TP-Link's datasheet also lists a multi-function LED indication that shows the module's standby, normal, alarm and fault status, so you can see the state of the supply at a glance.

The PSM900-AC measures 259.5 x 95.8 x 40.1 mm (W x D x H). TP-Link rates it for operation from 0 to 45 °C (32 to 113 °F) and storage from -40 to 70 °C (-40 to 158 °F), with operating humidity of 10 to 90% RH and storage humidity of 5 to 90% RH, both non-condensing. The figures on this page come from TP-Link's AU product page and the PSM900-AC datasheet for hardware version UN 1.20. ARC IP Networks supplies the PSM900-AC from Australian stock with the full manufacturer's warranty.
