The TP-Link FC111PB-20 (TL-FC111PB-20) is a 10/100 Mbps WDM media converter with 1-port PoE. It provides 1 x 10/100 Mbps PoE RJ45 port (auto-MDI/MDIX) and 1 x 100 Mbps SC fibre port, converting between electrical and optical signals over a single 9/125 um single-mode fibre for up to 20 km. It transmits at 1310 nm and receives at 1550 nm, so it pairs with the TL-FC111A-20. The 802.3af PoE output makes remote camera deployment easier, the unit is powered by a 48 V / 0.5 A adapter, and it works standalone or in TP-Link's TL-FC1420 rack.

The TP-Link FC111PB-20 (TL-FC111PB-20) is a 10/100 Mbps WDM media converter with 802.3af PoE output. It has one 10/100 Mbps PoE RJ45 port and one 100 Mbps SC fibre port, sends and receives on a single strand of single-mode fibre up to 20 km (1310 nm TX, 1550 nm RX), and powers a camera or other PoE device at the far end from its 48 V / 0.5 A adapter. It pairs with the TL-FC111A-20.

FC111PB-20 overview

The FC111PB-20, also listed by TP-Link as the TL-FC111PB-20, is a 10/100 Mbps media converter with 802.3af PoE output. It provides one 10/100 Mbps PoE RJ45 port and one 100 Mbps SC fibre port, and converts between electrical and optical signals. TP-Link says that with up to 20 km of fibre transmission distance and 802.3af PoE output, it is designed to address the needs of flexible long-range surveillance deployment with optical fibre, and that it provides an economical path towards extending the distance of an existing network. In practice it sits at the remote end of a fibre run, next to an IP camera or access point, and powers that device over its RJ45 cable while carrying its data back over fibre.

Like the rest of the series it uses WDM (wavelength division multiplexing) to send and receive over one strand of single-mode fibre, which TP-Link says saves half of the cable deployment cost. The FC111PB-20 transmits at 1310 nm and receives at 1550 nm. The device used with it must therefore transmit at 1550 nm and receive at 1310 nm, and TP-Link names the TL-FC111A-20 as a product that can cooperate with the TL-FC111PB-20. A typical link is a TL-FC111A-20 at the switch end, a single-mode fibre of up to 20 km, and an FC111PB-20 at the camera end powering the camera with PoE. Two converters of this same model cannot be paired with each other, because both transmit on 1310 nm.

The PoE output is the main difference from the TL-FC111A-20. The FC111PB-20 RJ45 port is a PoE port with its own PoE LED next to the PWR and Link/Act indicators, and the converter is powered by a 48 V / 0.5 A adapter rather than the 5 V / 0.6 A adapter used by the TL-FC111A-20. TP-Link highlights that the 802.3af PoE output makes remote camera deployment easier and more convenient. The fibre port is rated for 9/125 um single-mode fibre up to 20 km, and the RJ45 port for 100BASE-TX over 2-pair UTP or STP of Category 5 or above up to 100 m. The converter complies with IEEE 802.3, 802.3i and 802.3u and auto-negotiates half-duplex or full-duplex transfer mode.

The FC111PB-20 measures 94.5 x 73.0 x 27.0 mm (3.7 x 2.9 x 1.1 in). TP-Link says it can be used as a standalone device with no rack required, or with TP-Link's TL-FC1420 rack, with auto-MDI/MDI-X on the TX port and automatic duplex negotiation. TP-Link highlights its wide operating temperature of 0 to 50 degrees C; storage is -40 to 70 degrees C, with 10 to 90% RH operating and 5 to 90% RH storage humidity, non-condensing. The box contains the TL-FC111PB-20 media converter, a power adapter and an installation guide.
