The TP-Link EH210 is a 1 to 2 Gigabit Ethernet splitter: one wired connection in, two devices out, at up to 1000 Mbps. It has three 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ45 ports, any of which can be the input, is powered over USB-C (5 V 0.3 A) and cannot be used without power. A USB power cable and a Cat 5e Ethernet cable are in the box.

EH210 overview

TP-Link describes the EH210 as a way to divide one Gigabit network connection into two, so two devices can be connected simultaneously. It is a single powered unit with three RJ45 ports, each 10/100/1000 Mbps with auto-negotiation, auto MDI/MDIX and half and full duplex. TP-Link states that any port can be used as the input; the other two then connect your devices.

Setup, per TP-Link, has no complicated steps: plug in the power supply and the Ethernet cables. Power is required, as TP-Link footnotes that the product cannot be used without a power source. It takes 5 V at 0.3 A through a USB-C port, and the package includes a USB power cable along with a Cat 5e Ethernet cable. Speeds go up to 1000 Mbps and fall back to 100 or 10 Mbps for older equipment. TP-Link adds that actual network speed may be limited by the rate of the connected Ethernet WAN or LAN port, the rate the cable supports, internet service provider factors and other environmental conditions.

The EH210 works with Cat 8, Cat 7, Cat 6, Cat 5e and Cat 5 cables, with Cat 5e or higher recommended, and TP-Link lists hubs, switches, routers, wireless devices and computers as compatible equipment. Its illustrations show a router, broadband device or network socket on the input and devices such as a laptop, TV, computer, printer, wireless device or set-top box on the outputs. A power indicator sits on the power button, and white LEDs beside each Ethernet port show whether devices are properly connected. The aluminium alloy case, which TP-Link says improves heat dissipation, measures 58 x 53 x 18.4 mm. The box contains the EH210, a USB power cable, a Cat 5e cable and a quick installation guide.
