The TP-Link Tapo T310 is a compact smart temperature and humidity monitor with a Swiss-made sensor accurate to ±0.3 °C and ±3% RH, refreshing every 2 seconds. It sends app alerts when readings leave your ranges, switches heaters, fans or humidifiers through Tapo devices, and keeps up to 2 years of cloud data for free CSV export. It has no screen, runs on a CR2450 coin cell and needs a Tapo Hub.

Tapo T310 overview

The Tapo T310 is the compact, screenless member of TP-Link's Tapo climate sensors. You read it on your phone: the Tapo app shows a room's real-time temperature and humidity from anywhere, at any time. TP-Link frames this around health and comfort, and its suggested locations range from a baby room, bedroom, office and kitchen to a wine cellar, greenhouse, reptile tank or where musical instruments are kept. At 46 x 46 x 12.3 mm it is designed small enough to fit in most places.

Inside is a Swiss-made sensor with a typical accuracy of ±3% RH and ±0.3 °C (0.54 °F). It obtains and updates data every 2 seconds and covers a humidity range of 0-99% RH and a temperature range of -20 to 60 °C. When temperature or humidity falls outside your customised ranges, the Tapo app sends an instant notification, such as TP-Link's "Cigar Box" example warning that the temperature is higher than your preferred range. The T310 can also automatically turn appliances connected to Tapo devices on or off, for example a heater on a Tapo smart plug switching on below 16 °C and off above 21 °C, which TP-Link says helps save on energy bills.

Data logging is included without a fee: up to 2 years of cloud data logging and storage, with all the data exportable to a CSV file sent to your email. Power comes from a replaceable CR2450 coin battery, and TP-Link quotes up to 2 years of battery life thanks to its low-power wireless technology; it notes this figure is based on its laboratory testing and that actual life may vary with working conditions. The housing has a ventilation hole over the sensor, a lanyard loop, an LED indicator and a pinhole for opening the back panel.

The T310 needs a hub. Its page states the Tapo Smart Hub (H100) is required, and its specifications list Hub Required: Yes. The Tapo H200 page also lists the T310 as a supported sensor and notes that, because it measures both temperature and humidity, it counts as two devices on the hub. It uses 922 MHz and lists Alexa and Google Assistant as third-party platforms. Mount it three ways, all with the parts included: hang it from its lanyard, fix it to a wall with adhesive, or attach it to metal with the magnet. The package contains the Tapo T310, a CR2450 battery, a lanyard, a quick start guide, 3M adhesive, an adhesive magnet and an eject pin.

Tapo T310 compared

The T310 and T315 share the same Swiss-made sensor, accuracy and 2-second refresh. The difference TP-Link draws is the display: the T315 adds a 2.7-inch E-ink screen, uses AAA batteries and is larger, while the T310 is a smaller screenless unit on a coin cell. Figures are as each TP-Link AU page states them.
