The TP-Link Tapo T300 Smart Water Leak Sensor watches the places leaks start: under sinks, beside washing machines and dishwashers, near the bath or in the laundry. Six high-sensitivity probes on the top and bottom detect water leakage and flooding, a built-in 90 dB siren sounds immediately with one-touch mute, the Tapo app notifies you of a leak or low batteries, and the hub alarm or a Tapo smart bulb can add audible and visual warnings. It is IP67 rated, runs on two replaceable AAA batteries (included) and measures 84.5 x 46.5 x 30 mm. A Tapo Hub is required, sold separately.

The TP-Link Tapo T300 is a smart water leak sensor with six probes on its top and bottom that detect drips, leaks and flooding. It sounds its own 90 dB siren, sends instant Tapo app alerts, can trigger the hub alarm and flash a Tapo smart bulb, and is rated IP67. It runs on two included AAA batteries and needs a Tapo Hub.

Tapo T300 overview

The Tapo T300 is built to catch water damage early. It has 6 high-sensitivity probes on the top and bottom, so it detects both water leakage and flooding, and it alerts you immediately with its own 90 dB alarm, which can be muted with one touch. It can also trigger the hub alarm for additional audible coverage, so you can step in before a small leak becomes worse water damage. TP-Link describes it as 24/7 drip and leak alerting.

Away from home, the Tapo app sends an instant notification when a leak happens or the batteries run low. TP-Link's example reads: "Kitchen": Water leak detected at 09:41. You can name each sensor and manage them all in the Tapo app, placing them wherever leaks or flooding may occur: bathrooms, kitchens and laundry rooms, under sinks, near the washing machine, dishwasher or bathtub, by windows or in a basement. For a visible warning, create a Smart Action that links the sensor to Tapo smart lighting, so a Tapo smart bulb alerts you before disaster strikes.

The sensor carries an IP67 waterproof and dustproof rating, which TP-Link says suits humid and dusty environments. It operates from 0 to 40 °C at 0-99% RH. Two replaceable AAA batteries, included in the box, provide up to 3 years of battery life; TP-Link states this figure is based on its laboratory results and that actual battery life may vary depending on working conditions and environments. The T300 measures 84.5 x 46.5 x 30 mm.

A Tapo Hub is required and sold separately. Setup is three steps: download the Tapo app, follow the in-app guide to pair the sensor with a Tapo Hub, and place it where leaks could occur. The Tapo H200 page lists the T300 among its supported sensors, and TP-Link notes that one hub can manage up to 64 sensors. The T300 uses 922 MHz, and TP-Link warns that sensors and hubs must share the same regional Sub-1G band. Third-party platforms listed are Alexa and Google Assistant, and certifications include RCM and R-NZ. The package contains the Tapo T300, two AAA batteries and a quick start guide.

Tapo T300 compared

Of the three battery-powered Tapo hub sensors, the T300 is the one with its own siren and an IP67 rating, and it runs on AAA batteries rather than a coin cell. The T100 detects motion and the T110 detects doors and windows opening. Figures are as each TP-Link AU page states them.
