The TP-Link Tapo T110 is a smart contact sensor that reports whether doors, windows, cabinets or the fridge are open or closed. It sends instant phone alerts, lets a Tapo Hub or HomeBase sound a siren, can turn lights on as a door opens, and runs on a CR2032 battery with low-battery notification. A Tapo Hub or Tapo HomeBase is required.

Tapo T110 overview

The Tapo T110 is a contact sensor that knows when something opens. TP-Link's first use is peace of mind: stop wondering whether you closed all the windows after leaving home and check every door and window at a glance in the Tapo app. If a door or window opens unexpectedly you get an instant push notification, and the Tapo Hub and Tapo HomeBase can sound a siren to warn of danger and deter intruders. TP-Link also suggests checking whether a parcel has been locked away.

Smart Actions extend it further. Set the sensor to turn lights on when you open your door, using the T110 with a Tapo Hub or Tapo HomeBase and a Tapo smart bulb. Or pair it with Tapo security cameras: the instant a door or window opens, the cameras can turn to the intruder and sound an alarm. TP-Link notes this camera action supports Tapo pan/tilt security cameras only. Beyond doors and windows, it suits cabinets and drawers, knowing when your pet is out and about, keeping valuables safe, or making sure the refrigerator is not left open.

The T110 needs a hub. Its specifications list Hub Required: Yes, and its page names the Tapo Hub or Tapo HomeBase (both sold separately). The Tapo H200 page lists the T110 among supported sensors, and TP-Link's T30 KIT bundles two T110 sensors with the Tapo H100 hub. TP-Link warns that the device operates exclusively within its specified Sub-1G band, which differs by region, so the sensor and hub must use the same band; the specifications show 868 / 922 MHz.

Power comes from a CR2032 battery, and TP-Link quotes a 2-year battery life with low battery notification. The sensor has an indicator LED, mounts to nearly any surface with the included 3M adhesive, measures 61.4 x 37.5 x 12.3 mm and operates from 0 to 40 °C. The Tapo app runs on iOS 10.0 or higher and Android 5.0 or higher. The package contains one Tapo T110, a CR2032 battery, three 3M adhesives and a quick start guide.

Tapo T110 compared

The T110 sits alongside two other battery-powered Tapo hub sensors: the T100 detects motion and the T300 detects water leaks. The T110 is the slimmest of the three and the only one whose page names the Tapo HomeBase as well as the Tapo Hub. Figures are as each TP-Link AU page states them.
