The TP-Link Tapo T100 Smart Motion Sensor detects motion up to 7 m away through a 120 degree view, with three sensitivity settings (3, 5 or 7 m) to cut false triggers. Use it to switch on hallway or bedroom lights hands-free, run Smart Actions that start several Tapo devices at once, or trigger an alarm and phone notification in Away Mode. The sensor rotates to the ideal angle, mounts on a shelf, wall or ceiling with 3M adhesive or on its magnetic mount, and runs on a CR2450 battery. It measures 42.3 x 42.3 x 34 mm. The TP-Link Tapo T100 is a battery-powered smart motion sensor that detects movement up to 7 m away across a 120 degree field of view. It turns Tapo lights and devices on as you walk in, can trigger a hub alarm and phone notification while you are away, and offers three sensitivity levels and a rotating mount. A Tapo Hub, sold separately, is required.

Tapo T100 overview

The Tapo T100 is a compact motion sensor that makes Tapo lights and devices respond to people moving through your home. TP-Link's headline use is hands-free lighting: hallway or bedroom lights turn on automatically as you pass the sensor, with no switch to find and nothing to say. With a Smart Action in the Tapo app you can group Tapo products any way you like and activate them all with motion, so a whole room responds as you walk in. TP-Link also pitches it for energy saving by switching connected devices on as you come and go.

For security, the T100 can trigger an alarm to deter intruders when it notices movement while you are not home, and the Tapo app sends a notification to your phone as soon as motion is detected. Instant alerts work in Away Mode.

Detection reaches up to 7 m across a 120 degree field of view. Sensitivity has three levels, which TP-Link shows as 3 m, 5 m and 7 m, so you can tailor coverage and filter out false triggers. The sensor head rotates freely so you can set the angle and detection zone, for example to avoid accidental activations by pets. TP-Link quotes a 2-year battery life based on its testing of 50 triggers a day, 25,000 triggers in total, while the page summary describes over one year of use; power comes from a CR2450 battery.

A Tapo Hub is necessary for operation and is sold separately. TP-Link's Tapo H200 page lists the T100 among its supported sensors, and the Tapo T30 KIT pairs a T100 with the Tapo H100 hub. The T100 uses the 922 MHz hub link and has an LED. It measures 42.3 x 42.3 x 34 mm and operates from 0 to 40 °C. TP-Link describes mounting on a shelf, wall or ceiling with the provided adhesive, plus an additional magnetic mount. The package content is listed as the Tapo T100, a quick start guide, a CR2450 battery and 3M adhesive. TP-Link notes some features may require software upgrades or subscriptions.
