The TP-Link Tapo T30 KIT is a smart sensor starter kit containing one Tapo H100 smart hub with chime, one Tapo T100 motion sensor and two Tapo T110 contact sensors, plus batteries and adhesives. The sensors send app notifications and trigger the hub alarm (up to 90 dB), and link with Tapo lights, plugs and cameras for home automation.

Tapo T30 KIT overview

The Tapo T30 KIT bundles a hub and three sensors to start a Tapo sensor system in one purchase. TP-Link's package list is one Tapo H100 smart hub with chime, one Tapo T100 smart motion sensor, two Tapo T110 smart contact sensors, one CR2450 button battery, two CR2032 button batteries, seven 3M adhesives and a quick start guide. The hub connects the sensors with an ultra-low power wireless protocol that TP-Link says helps battery-powered devices last up to 10 times longer, and the kit page lists a 2-year battery life with low-battery notifications.

The two contact sensors cover doors and windows. They monitor opening and closing in real time, and TP-Link also suggests cabinets, the fridge or the mailbox, so you can stop wondering whether you closed all the windows after leaving home and check them at a glance in the Tapo app. The motion sensor handles hands-free detection: hallway or bedroom lights turn on automatically as you pass by, with no switch to flip and nothing to say, and motion detection can be customised.

Together the sensors drive automation and security. Lights turn on automatically when the contact sensor detects the door opening or the motion sensor detects someone passing, and a customisable scene can control multiple devices at once. With Tapo pan/tilt cameras, TP-Link describes two actions: motion detected by the sensor can start the camera's Patrol Mode to sweep the area, and the instant a door or window opens the camera can turn to the intruder and sound an alarm. When either sensor detects abnormal behaviour, it triggers the hub alarm (up to 90 dB) and notifies you through the Tapo app, and the event log records the specific detection time wherever you are. TP-Link calls this non-video monitoring.

Installation is tool-less. Plug in the hub, mount the motion sensor on furniture or walls with its built-in magnet or 3M tape, and fix the contact sensors to doors or windows with 3M adhesive. TP-Link lists the dimensions as 42.3 x 42.3 x 34 mm for the motion sensor, 61.4 x 37.5 x 12.3 mm for each contact sensor and 72 x 62.5 x 51 mm for the hub, with an operating range of 0 to 40 °C and UL94-V0 flame-retardant material. The kit page also lists smart ringtones, as the included H100 is TP-Link's smart hub with chime.
