The TP-Link Tapo DL105 is a smart Wi-Fi door lock with a fingerprint sensor, keypad, Tapo app control and a mechanical key. It stores up to 100 fingerprints and 200 access codes, supports one-time and scheduled guest codes, and locks automatically. A removable 7800 mAh rechargeable battery powers it, with a USB-C backup power port. The exterior is IP54 rated and the lock is ANSI/BHMA Grade 3 certified.

Tapo DL105 overview

The Tapo DL105 is TP-Link's smart Wi-Fi door lock, combining a fingerprint sensor, a keypad, app control and a mechanical key. The advanced fingerprint sensor accurately recognises fingerprints, and up to 100 different fingerprints can be registered at a time. The keypad accepts up to 200 customisable access codes, so each member of the family can have their own resident passcode. For visitors, one-time passcodes grant temporary access, and scheduled passcodes let cleaning staff or dog walkers enter only during designated times. An emergency unlock option and a mechanical key are included in the feature list, and a doorbell ring function is supported.

The lock connects over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11b/g/n) and Bluetooth 5.0, and the Tapo app lets you manage the lock and monitor your front door from anywhere. A detailed activity log records lock and unlock events with timestamps, giving a clear picture of who is accessing your home and when. Automatic locking secures the door after a set time has elapsed, and you can build smart routines with other Tapo or Kasa devices for automated security. TP-Link says the DL105 connects with smart home ecosystems such as Alexa, Google Home and Samsung SmartThings, and its specification lists Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa integration. Security uses 128-bit AES encryption with SSL/TLS, and Wi-Fi supports WPA, WPA2-PSK and WPA3.

Power comes from a removable, rechargeable 7800 mAh lithium-ion battery. A Bluetooth-only mode extends battery life, and a USB-C port provides backup power in the rare case of an outage, with a 5 V 2 A input. TP-Link lists a typical consumption of 1 mW in Wi-Fi standby and a maximum of 412 mW. The exterior side is rated IP54 for weather resistance, and the lock is ANSI/BHMA Grade 3 certified, which TP-Link says ensures long-lasting reliability.

Before buying, check your door against TP-Link's compatibility figures: backset 60 or 70 mm, minimum distance 65 mm, door thickness 35 to 55 mm and strike hole depth 38 or 54 mm. The lock is door-mounted, and the Tapo app requires iOS 12 or later or Android 5.0 or later. TP-Link lists an operating range of -22 to 158 °F (about -30 to 70 °C) at 10% to 90% relative humidity, and storage from -40 to 158 °F (about -40 to 70 °C).
