The TP-Link S5500-24F4XF is an Omada Pro 24-port SFP L2+ managed switch with 4 SFP+ slots. It has 20 Gigabit SFP ports, 4 Gigabit SFP/RJ45 combo ports and 4 x 10 Gbps SFP+ slots, 128 Gbps switching capacity, dual redundant 100-240 V AC power supplies, static routing, ERPS, QinQ and ISP features, and is managed by web, CLI, SNMP or an Omada Pro controller.

S5500-24F4XF overview

The S5500-24F4XF is TP-Link's Omada Pro 24-port SFP L2+ managed switch with 4 SFP+ slots, hardware version V1. It is a fibre switch: 20 Gigabit SFP ports, 4 Gigabit SFP/RJ45 combo ports and 4 x 10 Gbps SFP+ slots, plus an RJ45 console port and a Micro-USB console port. TP-Link describes it as a fully enterprise-level managed switch for enterprises, campuses and ISPs, and it suits the job of gathering fibre runs from access switches in other buildings, floors or cabinets and handing them to a core over 10G. It has no PoE; it is built for links between switches rather than powering end devices.

Performance is non-blocking for its port count. Switching capacity is 128 Gbps, the packet forwarding rate is 95.23 Mpps, with a 16K MAC address table, 12 Mbit packet buffer and 9 KB jumbo frames. Reliability is a design focus: two power supplies, each 100-240 V AC 50/60 Hz, back each other up, and two power cords are included. Maximum power consumption is 35.7 W at 110 V/60 Hz (121.81 BTU/hr). The rack-mountable chassis measures 440 x 220 x 44 mm with one fan, and the rackmount kit and rubber feet are in the box. Operating temperature is 0 to 45 degrees C.

It carries the L2+ and L3 feature set of the Omada Pro S5500 family. L3 features include 16 IPv4/IPv6 interfaces, static routing with 48 static routes, 512 ARP entries, proxy and gratuitous ARP, DHCP server and DHCP interface, VLAN and L2 relay. L2 features include static and 802.3ad LACP link aggregation (up to 8 groups of 8 ports), STP, RSTP and MSTP with TC protect, BPDU filter and root protect, loopback detection, HOL blocking prevention and port and CPU mirroring. VLANs cover up to 4K groups, MAC VLAN, protocol VLAN, private VLAN, GVRP, port-based and selective QinQ, voice VLAN and OUI-based VLAN. ISP-oriented functions include 802.3ah Ethernet Link OAM, L2PT, DLDP, PPPoE ID insertion, IGMP authentication, sFlow, DDM and ERPS ring protection.

Security covers IP-MAC-port binding and IPv6-MAC-port binding (512 entries each), DHCP and DHCPv6 snooping, ARP inspection, IPv4 and IPv6 source guard, DoS defend, DHCP filter, port security of up to 64 MAC addresses per port, storm control, 802.1X with VLAN assignment, MAB and guest VLAN, RADIUS and AAA including TACACS+, port isolation, HTTPS and SSH management. QoS uses 8 priority queues with SP, WRR and SP+WRR scheduling and flow actions. Standalone management includes a web GUI, CLI over console or Telnet, SNMP v1/v2c/v3, RMON, LLDP-MED, DHCP auto install, dual image and configuration, cable diagnostics and remote packet capture. Centrally it is managed through an Omada Pro software or cloud-based controller with the Omada app, cloud access and Intelligent Anomaly Detection; Zero-Touch Provisioning requires the Omada Pro cloud-based controller. It is certified CE and FCC.
