Specifications from Teltonika's official product data for the RUT271, checked October 2026.

The RUT271 RedCap 5G Router in depth

RedCap 5G with 4G fallback

The RUT271 is a RedCap 5G router that bridges the gap between 4G and full-capacity 5G. It supports SA architecture and 3GPP Release 17 RedCap, with up to 223 Mbps DL and 123 Mbps UL on 5G. It is also backward compatible with 4G LTE Cat 4 (195 Mbps DL, 105 Mbps UL), which helps future-proof deployments. Features include dual SIM and eSIM auto-switching, band management and a mobile quota control. Feature availability for eSIM and SIM switch varies by order code.

Wi-Fi, Ethernet and failover

The router works as a Wi-Fi 4 (802.11b/g/n) access point or station and supports up to 50 simultaneous connections. Hotspot functionality includes a captive portal, Radius authentication and customisable landing pages. Wired connectivity is provided by one 10/100 Mbps WAN port and one 10/100 Mbps LAN port. Network backup options (Wi-Fi WAN, Mobile, VRRP and Wired) can act as automatic failover, and load balancing is available across multiple WAN connections.

Security, protocols and management

The RUT271 includes a firewall, DDoS and port scan prevention, VLAN separation and 802.1x. VPN support covers OpenVPN, IPsec, WireGuard, GRE, L2TP, PPTP, DMVPN and ZeroTier. Industrial protocols include Modbus, DNP3, OPC UA, BACnet and DLMS, plus MQTT and Data to Server. It runs RutOS (OpenWrt based) and can be managed through the WebUI, SSH, SNMP, TR-069 and Teltonika Remote Management System (RMS).

Compact, wide-temperature design

The aluminium housing with plastic panels measures 83 x 25 x 74 mm and weighs 130 g. It operates from -40 °C to 75 °C at 10% to 90% non-condensing humidity, with an IP30 rating. Power is via a 4-pin connector (9 – 30 VDC), and passive PoE is possible through the LAN port. Power consumption is under 1.5 W idle and under 3 W at maximum. It also has one digital input and one digital output. Mounting options are DIN rail, wall mount or flat surface, all requiring an additional kit.
