Best for

  • Replacing a failed fan in a Nexus 93360YC-FX2 or 93216TC-FX2
  • Racks where the switch ports face the cold aisle
  • Keeping a spare fan for Nexus 9364C deployments

Key features

Port-side intake fan module with burgundy colouring.

Used in the Nexus 9364C, 93360YC-FX2 and 93216TC-FX2, each with three fan modules.

One fan module can be replaced during operation.

Each fan module has two rotors; the switch keeps running if one rotor in any one module fails.

With more than one rotor failure the switch warns and powers down in 2 minutes.

All fan and power supply modules must use the same airflow direction.

With port-side intake airflow the ports must be located in the cold aisle.

Port-side exhaust version is the NXA-FAN-160CFM-PE, with blue colouring.

The Cisco NXA-FAN-160CFM-PI= in depth

Airflow must match

Cisco Nexus fixed switches are offered with port-side intake or port-side exhaust airflow. The burgundy NXA-FAN-160CFM-PI= is the intake version, so the switch ports must face the cold aisle, and every fan and power supply in the chassis must use the same direction or the switch can overheat and shut down.

Redundant rotors

Each module has two rotors, so a single rotor failure in one module does not stop the switch. A failed module can be swapped during operation.
