Six Gigabit ports, four of them PoE+: that is the Mercusys MS106GP. PoE ports 1-4 deliver up to 30 W each from a 65 W budget, the two remaining Gigabit ports act as uplinks to a router and an NVR, and PoE Auto Recovery, Extend Mode (250 m), Isolation Mode and priority ports suit small surveillance systems.

MS106GP overview

Mercusys sums up the MS106GP as 'Connect fast, keep it simple'. It has six 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ45 ports. Ports 1-4 deliver PoE+ to 802.3af/at powered devices at up to 30 W per port, with a 65 W total budget. The two remaining ports become dedicated uplinks when Isolation Mode is on: one to the internet router and one to the network video recorder. Mercusys stresses that the budget comes from laboratory testing and is not guaranteed, because client limits and the environment affect it. The AU page lists V1.

The extra port is the main difference from a five-port PoE switch, and the MS106GP adds features aimed at cameras. PoE Auto Recovery watches each powered device and reboots it automatically if it stops sending data packets to the switch for an extended time. Extend Mode raises PoE transmission distance on the four PoE+ ports to 250 m for cameras spread over wide areas. The ports then run at 10 Mbps, and real distance depends on device power draw and the cable quality and type.

With one click, Isolation Mode divides traffic for ports 1-4 to prevent snooping or tampering and to isolate broadcast storms. Port prioritisation favours the data on specific ports so delicate applications such as voice and video keep their quality. Everything else is automatic: Mercusys lists auto-negotiation and automatic MDI/MDIX with no additional configuration. It switches at 12 Gbps; the 2K-entry MAC table auto-learns and auto-ages.

The MS106GP is fanless, so Mercusys says it uses less power and makes no fan noise, and its durable metal case suits a desk or a wall. It measures 99.8 x 98 x 25 mm. Maximum power consumption is 69.64 W with a 65 W load at 110 V / 60 Hz, and it operates between 0 and 40 °C. LEDs show power, link/activity and PoE status. Mercusys suggests it for surveillance, small offices, cafes and stores with access points, and conference phones.

MS106GP compared

The MS106GP and MS105GP share four PoE+ ports, a 65 W budget and the same case size. The MS106GP adds a sixth Gigabit port so a router and an NVR can both connect while Isolation Mode is on, and it lists PoE Auto Recovery. Figures are from both Mercusys Australia product pages.

Last reviewed October 2026.

Four. Ports 1-4 are PoE+; the other two Gigabit ports are for uplinks.

65 W total and up to 30 W per port. Mercusys notes the figure comes from lab testing and actual budget will vary.

If a powered device stops sending data for an extended time, the switch reboots it automatically.

With Isolation Mode on, one uplink connects to the internet router and the other to the NVR.

Up to 250 m in Extend Mode, with the port speed reduced to 10 Mbps; cable quality and device draw affect the result.

Yes. Mercusys lists zero fans, which cuts noise and power consumption.

The same page states PoE on ports 1-4 only and four PoE+ ports throughout, so treat it as four PoE+ ports.

99.8 x 98 x 25 mm (3.9 x 3.9 x 1.0 in), for desk or wall mounting.

IEEE 802.3i, 802.3u, 802.3ab, 802.3x, 802.3af and 802.3at.
