The Mercusys MR27BE is a BE3600 dual band Wi-Fi 7 router with two 2.5 Gbps ports. It runs at 2880 Mbps on 5 GHz and 688 Mbps on 2.4 GHz with Multi-Link Operation and 4K-QAM, adds AI QoS for automatic traffic prioritisation, and provides a 2.5 Gbps WAN port, a 2.5 Gbps LAN port and three gigabit LAN ports.

MR27BE overview

The MR27BE shares its BE3600 Wi-Fi 7 radio with the MR25BE but is built around faster wired connections. Mercusys equips it with a 2.5 Gbps WAN port, a 2.5 Gbps LAN port and three gigabit LAN ports, to get past the 1 Gbps limit on both the internet connection and a fast wired device such as a PC or NAS. Mercusys notes that 2.5 Gbps internet speeds need a compatible service plan and equipment. The details on this page follow hardware version 2 as published on Mercusys Australia.

Wireless signal rates are 2880 Mbps on 5 GHz and 688 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, using 802.11be/ax/ac/a/b/g/n with channels up to 160 MHz and 4K-QAM modulation. Multi-Link Operation, Multi-RUs, OFDMA, MU-MIMO, BSS Colour and beamforming are all listed. These Wi-Fi 7 and Wi-Fi 6 features work only with clients that support them; 160 MHz on 5 GHz may be blocked by regulation in some regions, and Mercusys says the router may not support every mandatory 802.11be feature and may need later software updates. Signal rates are physical maximums from the IEEE 802.11 standard, and real-world throughput and coverage are lower and vary.

A headline addition is AI QoS. Mercusys says it identifies what each device is doing and automatically prioritises speed- and latency-sensitive activity, is switched on with a single tap, and relies on Mercusys's in-house DPI and QoS algorithms for real-time traffic classification. Four external antennas, two for 5 GHz and two for 2.4 GHz, combine with beamforming and Wi-Fi optimisation to extend coverage.

Wireless functions include a guest network, a separate IoT network, Smart Connect, a wireless schedule, WPS, AP isolation and airtime fairness, and security is WPA, WPA2 and WPA3. The router runs in Router or AP mode, supports IPTV through IGMP Proxy, IGMP Snooping, Bridge/Custom and Tag VLAN, and lists a VPN client for OpenVPN, WireGuard, PPTP and L2TP/IPSec with a kill switch that disconnects the internet if the VPN drops. The MR27BE can also join an EasyMesh network; per Mercusys, linking to another brand's hardware can fail when firmware conflicts, and the router uses standardised EasyMesh without official Wi-Fi EasyMesh certification.

Parental controls cover profiles, time limits, pausing the internet and website filtering. Other features are DDNS (Mercusys, NO-IP and DynDNS), port forwarding, port triggering, DMZ, UPnP, IPv6, an SPI firewall, access control and IP and MAC binding, CWMP and ISP presets, ping and traceroute diagnostics, and LED night mode. Manage it through the Mercusys app or a browser with a Mercusys ID. The 250 x 119 x 43.3 mm case sits on a desk or mounts on a wall, uses a 12 V / 1.5 A supply, and has a single system LED with WPS and reset buttons.

Mercusys says it recognises what each device is doing and automatically prioritises speed- and latency-sensitive activity, enabled with one tap.

No, but 2.5 Gbps internet speeds require a compatible plan and equipment.

2880 Mbps on 5 GHz and 688 Mbps on 2.4 GHz (maximum signal rates).

Yes. IGMP Proxy, IGMP Snooping, Bridge/Custom and Tag VLAN are listed.

Yes. Mercusys lists desktop and wall-mount installation.

It is EasyMesh-compatible. Connections with other vendors can fail on firmware conflicts, and it is not Wi-Fi EasyMesh certified.

Mercusys lists the MR27BE with a power adapter, an RJ45 Ethernet cable and a Quick Installation Guide.
