Frequently Asked Questions

What is the IDS-2CD8A46G2-XZHSY-0832 and what does the -0832 suffix mean?

The IDS-2CD8A46G2-XZHSY-0832 is a Hikvision 4 MP DeepinView dual-channel bullet network camera. The -0832 suffix specifies the lens configuration: Channel 1 uses an 8–32 mm motorised varifocal P-iris lens, while Channel 2 uses a fixed 4 mm wide-angle lens. The -Y suffix denotes NEMA 4X moderate anti-corrosion protection suitable for coastal and industrial environments approximately 2 kilometres from coastlines.

What DeepinView AI capabilities does this camera offer?

The Hikvision DeepinView IDS-2CD8A46G2-XZHSY-0832 integrates multiple deep-learning functions on-board: licence-plate recognition with ≥98% accuracy (blocklist/allowlist up to 10,000 records), face capture of up to 120 faces simultaneously across 10 face libraries totalling 150,000 faces, multi-target-type detection (60 targets simultaneously with human body/face/vehicle classification), perimeter protection with human and vehicle target filtering on both channels, and ShotN technology for blur-free capture of fast-moving subjects.

How does the dual-channel design benefit traffic and perimeter monitoring?

The dual-channel design pairs a long-range 8–32 mm varifocal lens (Channel 1 DORI detection up to 400 m at tele) with a simultaneous 89° wide-angle panoramic view (Channel 2), effectively replacing two separate cameras. Channel 1 handles licence-plate capture and face recognition at distance, while Channel 2 provides contextual situational awareness. Both channels independently support perimeter protection events. All footage streams via a single RJ45 PoE connection at up to 50 fps per channel (Ch1) or 25 fps per channel (Ch2) at 4 MP resolution.

What are the low-light and illumination specifications?

DarkFighter 2.0 technology enables Channel 1 to capture full-colour images at 0.0005 lux (F1.2, AGC ON) and 0 lux when the built-in supplement light is active. Channel 2 achieves 0.0003 lux (F1.0, AGC ON). The hybrid supplement light system combines 850 nm IR and white light, with smart switching that selects the optimal mode automatically. Illumination range reaches 100 m on Channel 1 and 40 m on Channel 2. B/W sensitivity is 0.0001 lux for both channels.

Is the IDS-2CD8A46G2-XZHSY-0832 suitable for outdoor use in harsh environments?

Yes. The camera carries an IP67 rating (fully dust-tight and protected against high-pressure water jets) and IK10 vandal resistance, housed in an aluminium alloy body. The -Y model additionally holds NEMA 4X certification for moderate anti-corrosion protection, suitable for coastal areas approximately 2 km from coastlines and areas subject to acid rain. A built-in heater and demist function ensure reliable operation from −40 °C to +60 °C. RCM certification (AS/NZS CISPR 32:2015) confirms compliance with Australian electromagnetic compatibility requirements.

What power options and storage does this camera support?

The IDS-2CD8A46G2-XZHSY-0832 supports three power input methods: 12 VDC (±20%, max. 22.6 W), 24 VAC (±20%, max. 22.2 W), and PoE IEEE 802.3at Type 2 Class 4 (42.5–57 V, max. 24 W) — making single-cable PoE installation straightforward. On-board storage uses a microSD/microSDHC/microSDXC slot supporting up to 256 GB for edge recording and Auto Network Replenishment (ANR) to fill gaps during network outages. NAS (NFS, SMB/CIFS) network storage is also supported.

Professional Overview

The Hikvision iDS-2CD8A46G2-XZHSY-0832 represents the flagship of Hikvision's DeepinView multi-sensor bullet series, engineered specifically for intelligent traffic monitoring, critical infrastructure protection, and high-security perimeter surveillance. Its dual-channel architecture — combining a long-range 8–32 mm P-iris varifocal channel with an 89° wide-angle panoramic channel — eliminates the need for separate detail and overview cameras at a single installation point, reducing both hardware costs and cabling complexity. The constant F1.6 aperture maintained throughout the varifocal range ensures optimal image quality at every zoom setting without the exposure drift common in conventional iris designs.

DarkFighter 2.0 technology, inherited from Hikvision's premium imaging heritage, pairs 1/1.8" Progressive Scan CMOS sensors with a hybrid IR and white-light supplement system to deliver usable colour footage in conditions approaching complete darkness. The 140 dB Wide Dynamic Range processor handles extreme contrast scenes — such as vehicle entrances under direct sunlight — that would saturate or shadow-clip conventional sensors. Three-dimensional digital noise reduction (3D DNR) further enhances image clarity during night-time and adverse weather operation, and the built-in heater with demist function extends reliable service from polar −40 °C winters to tropical +60 °C summers without additional enclosures.

The on-board deep-learning engine processes both channels simultaneously, running licence-plate recognition at ≥98% accuracy with a 10,000-record blocklist/allowlist, face capture across up to 120 simultaneous subjects with a 150,000-face comparison library, and multi-attribute vehicle detection covering type, colour, and brand. ShotN technology specifically addresses the challenge of mixed-speed traffic — motorcycles, cyclists, and pedestrians alongside vehicles — by selecting the optimal shutter parameters per target in real time. Perimeter protection rules apply independently to both channels with intelligent human and vehicle target filtering, dramatically reducing false alarms from environmental triggers such as leaves, lights, and animals. H.265+ compression delivers up to 5 independent streams per channel over a single Gigabit PoE link, while the microSD slot provides up to 256 GB of local edge recording for ANR continuity.

Certified to RCM (AS/NZS CISPR 32:2015) for the Australian market and carrying IP67, IK10, and NEMA 4X (-Y) environmental ratings, the IDS-2CD8A46G2-XZHSY-0832 is purpose-built for demanding outdoor deployments including road intersections, car parks, toll plazas, logistics hubs, and coastal industrial facilities. It integrates natively with Hikvision iVMS-4200 and Hik-Connect platforms and supports open-standard ONVIF Profile S/G/T, SDK, and ISAPI for third-party VMS integration.
