DeepinView FAQ — IDS-2CD7A46G2-P-IZHSY-8-32MM

What does the Hikvision IDS-2CD7A46G2-P-IZHSY-8-32MM use for licence plate recognition?

The IDS-2CD7A46G2-P-IZHSY-8-32MM is equipped with embedded deep learning–based ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) algorithms that operate directly on the camera with no server software required. The system achieves a licence plate recognition accuracy of ≥98% and a capture rate of ≥99%, covering 4 major areas and 124+ countries and regions including all Australian states. Blocklist and allowlist management supports up to 10,000 records, and the camera can capture vehicles at up to 120 km/h in front-of-vehicle (checkpoint) mode or up to 80 km/h in side-installation mode.

What is the Hikvision DeepinView series and how does it differ from standard IP cameras?

The DeepinView series is Hikvision’s AI-powered camera line built specifically for intelligent traffic and perimeter security applications. Unlike standard IP cameras, DeepinView cameras embed deep learning neural networks directly in the camera hardware, enabling on-device licence plate recognition, vehicle attribute detection (make, colour, type, direction), and perimeter protection with human and vehicle target classification. This eliminates the need for a separate AI server and dramatically reduces false alarms from environmental triggers such as leaves, animals, and lights.

What is the IR range of the 8–32 mm variant and what DORI performance does it achieve?

The 8–32 mm variant (IDS-2CD7A46G2-P-IZHSY-8-32MM) provides an IR Smart Supplement Light illumination range of up to 100 m at 850 nm. Its DORI performance (EN 62676-4) at the wide-end setting is: Detect 150.3 m, Observe 59.7 m, Recognise 30.1 m, and Identify 15 m. At the tele end the Detect range extends to 400 m, making it ideal for long-range vehicle identification tasks such as carpark entry, gate control, and road monitoring.

Can the IDS-2CD7A46G2-P-IZHSY detect vehicle attributes beyond just the plate number?

Yes. In addition to licence plate capture and recognition, the camera performs full vehicle attribute detection including vehicle type, colour, brand, and driving direction. It also supports vehicle and non-vehicle counting. All attribute data can be output as metadata and used for access control decisions, blocklist/allowlist matching, and integration with third-party VMS platforms via ISAPI, ONVIF, or SDK. Alarm linkage options include FTP/NAS upload, email notification, and alarm output triggering.

How does DarkFighter 2.0 improve low-light performance on the IDS-2CD7A46G2-P-IZHSY?

DarkFighter 2.0 combines the large 1/1.8" progressive scan CMOS sensor with advanced image signal processing to achieve colour imaging at an extremely low minimum illumination of 0.0005 Lux (F1.2, AGC ON) and black-and-white imaging at 0.0001 Lux. The camera also benefits from 150 dB AWDR to retain detail in high-contrast scenes, a ≥52 dB signal-to-noise ratio for clean imagery, and 3D DNR, BLC/HLC and Defog enhancement modes. When IR illumination is active, the minimum illumination reaches 0 Lux, ensuring clear monochrome capture in complete darkness.

Is the IDS-2CD7A46G2-P-IZHSY-8-32MM suitable for Australian outdoor environments?

Yes. The camera carries IP67 ingress protection against dust and water immersion, IK10 vandal-proofing for impact resistance, and an optional NEMA 4X corrosion resistance rating for coastal or industrial environments. A built-in heater protects internal electronics in cold or wet weather. The aluminium alloy body provides both structural rigidity and effective thermal dissipation. Power is supplied via PoE IEEE 802.3at Type 2, Class 4 (max. 22.6 W), 12 VDC, or 24 VAC, giving flexible installation options across Australian commercial, government, and transport infrastructure sites.

Professional Overview

The Hikvision IDS-2CD7A46G2-P-IZHSY-8-32MM is a professional-grade 4 MP (2688 × 1520) DeepinView ANPR bullet camera purpose-built for intelligent traffic monitoring, access control, and perimeter protection applications. Combining a large 1/1.8" progressive scan CMOS sensor with a 8–32 mm motorised P-iris varifocal lens, it delivers outstanding image quality across a flexible zoom range. The IP67 and IK10–rated aluminium alloy housing, optional NEMA 4X corrosion resistance, and integrated heater make it equally at home on petrol station forecourts, multi-level car parks, commercial premises, and critical infrastructure sites.

At the heart of the IDS-2CD7A46G2-P-IZHSY-8-32MM is Hikvision’s embedded deep learning ANPR engine delivering licence plate recognition accuracy ≥98% across 124+ countries and regions, including all Australian state plate formats. The 8–32 mm motorised varifocal lens achieves a DORI Detect range of 150.3 m (wide) to 400 m (tele) and a Recognise range of 30.1 m to 80 m, while the IR Smart Supplement Light provides up to 100 m illumination range. The camera captures vehicles at up to 120 km/h in checkpoint mode, with blocklist/allowlist management for up to 10,000 plates directly on-device.

DarkFighter 2.0 technology ensures colour imaging remains usable at 0.0005 Lux and black-and-white imaging at 0.0001 Lux (F1.2, AGC ON), backed by 150 dB AWDR for scenes with strong backlighting such as vehicle headlights or morning sun. Beyond ANPR, the embedded perimeter protection engine classifies humans and vehicles to filter out spurious motion alarms from leaves, animals, and environmental interference. Vehicle attribute detection outputs vehicle type, colour, brand, and direction as structured metadata, supporting seamless integration with Hikvision iVMS-4200, Hik-Central, and third-party ONVIF VMS platforms via ISAPI, SDK, or ONVIF Profile G/T/M.

High frame rate recording at 4MP@60fps and 2MP@120fps with H.265+ compression minimises storage requirements while preserving detail for forensic review. The camera supports five independent video streams, on-board storage up to 1 TB (microSD), alarm I/O, RS-485, and PoE IEEE 802.3at Type 2 Class 4 power for single-cable installation. With a 5-year warranty on Australian stock and a proven deployment track record across transport, retail, and government sectors, the IDS-2CD7A46G2-P-IZHSY-8-32MM represents the benchmark for embedded AI ANPR performance.
