The Mercusys Halo H27BE(2-pack) pairs two BE3600 dual-band Wi-Fi 7 mesh units, each with one 2.5 Gbps port and two 1 Gbps ports. Mercusys rates the 2-pack for up to 5,000 ft² (460 m²). Signal rates are 2880 Mbps on 5 GHz and 688 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, with Multi-Link Operation, 4K-QAM and Multi-RUs, and the system is set up and managed in the Mercusys app.

Halo H27BE(2-pack) overview

What separates the H27BE from the H25BE is its wired side. Each unit carries one 2.5 Gbps port alongside two 1 Gbps ports, all WAN/LAN auto-sensing, and Mercusys pitches the 2.5 Gbps port either for multi-gig internet access or for a fast wired link to a PC, smart TV or game console. Internet speeds above a gigabit need a service plan and modem that support them, and Mercusys reminds buyers that only one port in the system can be the WAN at a time. With two units in this pack you have two 2.5 Gbps ports and four gigabit ports in total.

Mercusys rates the two-unit H27BE kit for up to 5,000 ft² (460 m²). The main Halo connects to your modem and is configured in the Mercusys app; the second is then powered up wherever coverage is weak and joins on its own. Both share one Wi-Fi name and password, and Mercusys says devices are passed to the fastest node as you move, provided they support 802.11k/v/r (some need further setup). The 460 m² rating, like the speed figures, is not guaranteed: Mercusys lists ISP factors, network conditions, client limitations, building materials, obstacles, traffic volume and client location as things that change the outcome.

Each H27BE is a BE3600 dual-band Wi-Fi 7 unit (802.11be, compatible with 802.11ax/ac/a/b/g/n) with 2880 Mbps available on 5 GHz and 688 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, using up to 160 MHz channels. Mercusys attributes the 3.6 Gbps total to the move from 1024-QAM to 4096-QAM and lists MLO, Multi-RUs and beamforming. Multi-Link Operation, in Mercusys's words, increases throughput, reduces latency and improves reliability. Clients need matching Wi-Fi 7 support to benefit, and Mercusys notes the Halo may not support all mandatory 802.11be features and could need software upgrades. Its laboratory test of mixed video, download, browsing, camera and IoT traffic put the H27BE at over 150 connected devices.

Software features are listed in the specifications: Router and AP modes, Dynamic IP, Static IP, PPPoE, L2TP and PPTP WAN types, IPv4 and IPv6, DHCP server with address reservation, port forwarding and UPnP, IPTV via IGMP Proxy, IGMP Snooping, bridge and Tag VLAN, Mercusys DDNS, QoS with priority control, and an SPI firewall with access control. Wireless security is WPA-PSK, WPA2-PSK and WPA3-SAE. In the app, parents can set up profiles, time limits, website filtering and an internet pause, and anyone managing the network can see connected devices, open guest networks and receive new-device alerts. The 2-pack box contains two Halo H27BE units, two power adapters, one RJ45 Ethernet cable and a Quick Installation Guide. A single unit measures 128 x 81.3 x 83.7 mm and takes a 12 V / 1.5 A supply. Extra Halos must come from the H series, as Mercusys says H and S series units do not work together.

Mercusys quotes up to 5,000 ft² (460 m²) for the 2-pack. Real coverage depends on the home and environment.

Both are BE3600 dual-band Wi-Fi 7. The H27BE swaps one gigabit port for a 2.5 Gbps port; the H25BE has three gigabit ports.

No. Mercusys says H and S series cannot work together; the H27BE meshes with other H series units.

Yes. IGMP Proxy, IGMP Snooping, bridge and Tag VLAN are listed.
