The Mercusys Halo H80X(3-pack) is a three-unit AX3000 Wi-Fi 6 mesh system that Mercusys rates for up to 650 m². Each Halo H80X lists 2402 Mbps on 5 GHz with 160 MHz channels and 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, and has three gigabit WAN/LAN auto-sensing ports, giving nine ports across the kit. Mercusys quotes over 150 connected devices.

Halo H80X(3-pack) overview

Three identical Halo H80X units come in this pack. Mercusys rates the 3-pack for up to 650 m² of coverage, compared with 460 m² for the two-unit kit. One Halo goes at the modem as the main router and is set up through the Mercusys app; the other two are placed further out to fill weak spots. The system forms one unified network with a single Wi-Fi name and password, and Mercusys says your devices switch between Halos automatically as you move. For seamless roaming, clients must support 802.11k/v/r, and some may need extra set-up.

Each H80X is AX3000 class, listing 2402 Mbps on 5 GHz (802.11ax/ac/n/a) and 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz (802.11ax/n/b/g). The Wi-Fi 6 features named on its page are a 4x longer OFDM symbol, MU-MIMO for connecting more devices simultaneously, OFDMA for capacity and efficiency, 160 MHz channels, BSS Colour to cut congestion from neighbouring networks, and 1024-QAM. Mercusys adds refined signal amplifiers and receivers, beamforming, and self-healing that chooses the route between Halos according to network stability. It quotes stable connections for over 150 devices.

Mercusys's figures are maximums rather than promises. Signal rates are physical rates from the IEEE 802.11 standard; throughput, coverage and device numbers vary with network conditions, client limitations and the environment, including building materials, obstacles, traffic density and client location. Wi-Fi 6 features need compatible clients, the 160 MHz bandwidth may not be available on 5 GHz in some regions for regulatory reasons, and Mercusys says the product may need software upgrades for some 802.11ax features.

With three gigabit WAN/LAN auto-sensing ports on every unit, the 3-pack has nine wired ports spread over three locations, with a single port serving as the WAN. The H80X supports Router mode and Access Point mode, Dynamic IP, Static IP, PPPoE, L2TP and PPTP connections, IPv4 and IPv6, DHCP server and client, WMM, an SPI firewall and local, remote and multi-manager management. WPA-PSK, WPA2-PSK and WPA3 are the wireless security options. Through the Mercusys app you can check device status, prioritise devices with QoS, open guest networks on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, receive new-device alerts and monthly reports, and set up parental profiles with time limits, website blocking and pause. The 3-pack box contains three Halo H80X units, one RJ45 Ethernet cable, three power adapters and a Quick Installation Guide. Each unit is 128 x 81 x 83.7 mm. Mercusys lists V1, V1.20 and V2.20 hardware, and states the H80X meshes with other Halo H series units but not with the S series.
