The TP-Link Omada Fusion 2.5G Gateway integrates a gateway and an Omada controller into a single device, with licence-free cloud management. It has five 2.5G RJ45 ports (up to four WANs), a quad-core CPU, IPS/IDS rated at 2,183 Mbps, Omada LightLink VPN, full-mesh SD-WAN and a 2.51-inch touchscreen for on-device troubleshooting, and TP-Link recommends it for up to 30 Omada devices and 300 clients.

Fusion 2.5G overview

The Omada Fusion 2.5G Gateway combines a gateway and a controller in a single device. TP-Link positions it at the centre of the Omada networking ecosystem, unifying networking and centralised management with licence-free cloud control straight out of the box: the built-in controller gives full access to all functions from day one with no additional licence, supports centralised multi-site management through the Omada Cloud Management Platform, and lets administrators access and control the network remotely through the Omada Cloud portal via web or the Omada app. Local management is also available. TP-Link recommends the Fusion 2.5G for networks of up to 30 managed Omada devices and up to 300 connected clients, noting that controller and management features may vary with the connected Omada devices, software versions and deployment modes. The built-in controller provides automatic device discovery, network topology, dashboards, health monitoring, logs and alerts, batch firmware upgrades, captive portal, RADIUS/LDAP and 802.1X authentication.

Hardware is built around a quad-core CPU with 2 GB of DDR4 memory and five 2.5G RJ45 ports: one dedicated WAN port and four LAN/WAN ports, with up to four WAN ports active at once for multi-WAN failover and load balancing. TP-Link says the full 2.5G ports handle Wi-Fi 7 access points and high-speed NAS traffic without performance bottlenecks. Rated performance, which TP-Link notes may vary depending on traffic conditions, enabled features and network environment, includes static IP NAT throughput of about 2,362 Mbps upload and 2,361 Mbps download, IPS throughput of 2,183 Mbps upload and 2,152 Mbps download, DPI throughput of 2,206 / 2,219 Mbps, 150,000 concurrent sessions and 7,800 new sessions per second. TP-Link adds that actual throughput with IPS/IDS enabled may vary and is not guaranteed.

Security includes signature-based IPS/IDS threat detection, deep packet inspection with application filtering, application-based, IP-based, nation-based and FQDN ACLs, content filtering by URL category with an ad blocker, Safe Search, secure DNS (DNSSEC, DoH, DoT), a stateful firewall with attack defence, ARP inspection and IP-MAC binding. For remote access, Omada LightLink VPN offers one-click secure access with Smart Split Tunneling, which routes only designated traffic through the VPN, with up to 253 LightLink clients. Site-to-site VPN uses WireGuard or IPsec (up to 20 IPsec tunnels), and VPN server options are WireGuard, OpenVPN, IPsec, SSL, L2TP and PPTP. Full-mesh SD-WAN connects up to 20 sites, even without public IP addresses at each site; TP-Link notes SD-WAN can only be configured via the Omada Cloud Portal.

Day-to-day work is made easier on site: Bluetooth-based provisioning lets the Omada app automatically discover and batch-adopt Omada devices, and the 2.51-inch colour touchscreen shows network health scores, speed tests, alerts and real-time traffic for basic diagnostics directly on the device. One-click Auto QoS and custom rules prioritise critical traffic, and WAN types include Static IP, Dynamic IP, PPPoE, PPTP, L2TP, MAP-E and DS-Lite, with full IPv6 support and IGMP v2/v3 proxy for IPTV. The fanless polycarbonate unit measures 160 x 130 x 31.5 mm, weighs 535 g, is powered over USB Type-C (5 V / 3 A, adapter included) with a maximum draw of 9.76 W, and sits on a desk; wall mounting with a magnetic-mount plate and rack mounting with a rackmount kit are possible, both sold separately. ARC IP Networks supplies the Fusion 2.5G from Australian stock with the full manufacturer's warranty.
