The TP-Link Omada Flex Bridge 5 is a 5 GHz outdoor wireless bridge for point-to-point and point-to-multipoint links of up to 5 km at up to 867 Mbps, using two 17 dBi directional antennas. It has three gigabit ports including two PoE out ports to power remote IP cameras, an IP66 enclosure rated from -40 °C to 70 °C, DIP-switch pairing and app-guided alignment.

Flex Bridge 5 overview

Flex Bridge 5 is the endpoint in TP-Link's Omada long-range wireless bridge range. TP-Link describes it as a vital node or flexible extension for any bridge network, optimised for stable point-to-point or point-to-multipoint links in the toughest outdoor settings, from remote mining sites to isolated islands, and for connecting remote sites in rural and hard-to-wire environments. It transmits on 5 GHz (802.11a/n/ac) at up to 867 Mbps with 2x2 MIMO, through two internal 17 dBi dual-polarised directional antennas with a 40° horizontal and 18° vertical beamwidth, and TP-Link rates the link distance at up to 5 km (3.1 mi). TP-Link notes these are physical rates and lab-based coverage figures; actual throughput and range vary with the antennas, obstacles, interference and client limitations. A 2.4 GHz radio is used for device management only.

One Flex Bridge 5 can link to another in a point-to-point setup, and TP-Link optimises it for point-to-multipoint deployments with best performance when connecting up to 8 Flex Bridges per link. For larger networks it works with a Sector Bridge 5 as a centralised hub, which TP-Link says supports up to 32 Flex Bridges; that capacity is achievable only with Sector Bridge 5, is based on laboratory testing, and can vary with installation conditions, mounting location, traffic and RF interference. Pairing is handled with hardware switches: a Role Switch sets each unit as Main AP or Client AP, and a four-position Pairing Code Switch lets matching units find each other, which TP-Link says reduces configuration time. Four signal LEDs show link strength on a Client AP.

The Flex Bridge 5 doubles as a small PoE source at the far end of a link. It has three gigabit Ethernet ports: one PoE in port to power the bridge and two PoE out ports that deliver up to 10 W on a single port or 5 W per port when both are used, which TP-Link says makes it easy to power remote IP cameras and expand a surveillance system. Power input options are 802.3at and 802.3af PoE, 24 V and 54 V passive PoE, and 12 V DC; a 54 V passive PoE adapter (for dry indoor use only) and power cord are included. TP-Link's condition applies: PoE passthrough works only when the bridge itself is powered by 54 V passive PoE or 802.3at, not from 12 V DC, 24 V passive PoE or 802.3af. Maximum power consumption is 12 W on DC and 26.06 W on PoE with PoE out in use.

For outdoor durability the 214.2 x 50.8 x 119.8 mm, 0.59 kg unit has an IP66 weatherproof enclosure, 6 kV lightning protection and an operating range of -40 °C to 70 °C; TP-Link notes lightning and ESD protection depends on proper setup, grounding and cable shielding. Wall and pole mounting kits are included, with built-in levelling and an optional ball joint for angle adjustment. The Omada app provides real-time signal strength visualisation for alignment and instant speed testing. In standalone mode it can be set up on site through the Omada app with no internet required; Omada SDN mode, via Omada Central, an Omada hardware controller or the Omada software controller, adds cloud management and remote monitoring, which require an Omada controller. ARC IP Networks supplies the Flex Bridge 5 from Australian stock with the full manufacturer's warranty.

TP-Link rates it for up to 5 km (3.1 mi) on 5 GHz. TP-Link notes this is based on laboratory testing and actual coverage varies with antenna performance, client limitations and the environment.

Up to 867 Mbps on 5 GHz. This is the physical signal rate; actual throughput varies with environmental factors, interference and network conditions.

TP-Link recommends up to 8 Flex Bridges per link for best performance. With a Sector Bridge 5 as the hub, up to 32 Flex Bridges can connect; TP-Link says this is achievable only with Sector Bridge 5 and is based on laboratory testing.

Yes. Two of its three gigabit ports are PoE out, delivering up to 10 W on a single port or 5 W per port when both are used. PoE passthrough only works when the bridge is powered by 54 V passive PoE or 802.3at PoE.

By 802.3at or 802.3af PoE, 24 V or 54 V passive PoE, or 12 V DC. A 54 V passive PoE adapter, for dry indoor use only, and a power cord are included.

Set one unit as Main AP and the other as Client AP with the Role Switch, then set the same code on the four-position Pairing Code Switch on each unit.

Yes. It has an IP66 enclosure, 6 kV lightning protection and operates from -40 °C to 70 °C. TP-Link notes lightning protection depends on proper setup, grounding and cable shielding.

The Omada app shows real-time signal strength for alignment and can run a speed test to verify the link. The mount includes built-in levelling and an optional ball joint.

No. It can be set up in standalone mode through the Omada app with no internet required. Cloud management and remote monitoring through Omada SDN require an Omada controller.
