TP-Link FC1420 Omada 14-Slot Rackmount Media Converter Chassis

https://arcip.com.au/web/image/product.template/8104/image_1920?unique=48bc9ed

The TP-Link FC1420 Omada 14-Slot Rackmount Chassis is designed to hold up to 14 TP-Link FC series media converters in a standard 19-inch, 2U rack space and power them all from one central supply, saving space and power cables. Its AC power supply takes 100-240 V, 50/60 Hz (1.8 A max) and outputs 12 V DC at up to 6.25 A, delivering 5 V DC / 0.6 A to each of the 14 slots. Converters are hot-swappable, so they can be installed or removed without powering off the chassis, and the chassis supports the optional MCRP100 redundant power supply for continuous operation. It measures 482 x 309 x 86 mm and operates from 0 to 50 °C. Note: TP-Link lists the FC1420 as End of Life on its global product page.

The TP-Link FC1420 is an Omada 14-slot rackmount chassis that houses up to 14 TP-Link FC series media converters and powers them centrally, saving space and power cables. It is a standard 19-inch 2U unit with a 100-240 V AC supply delivering 5 V DC / 0.6 A to each slot, hot-swappable converter bays, over-voltage and over-current protection, and an optional redundant power supply (MCRP100).

FC1420 overview

The FC1420 is TP-Link's Omada 14-slot rackmount chassis for media converters. TP-Link describes it as specially designed to accommodate 14 media converters for central power supply, saving space and power cables. Instead of each fibre media converter sitting loose in a cabinet with its own plug-pack, up to 14 converters slide into the chassis bays and draw power from the chassis itself, so a fibre distribution point or comms room can be tidied into a single 2U block. The datasheet states that the FC1420 supports TP-Link's FC series media converters (its sibling chassis, the MC1400, is the one for MC series converters), and TP-Link calls the FC1420 together with FC series Gigabit and Fast Ethernet media converters the ideal solution for a media conversion network.

TP-Link notes that continuous operation is of great importance to fibre communication, and two features support that. First, the chassis is equipped for an optional redundant power supply; the datasheet names the MCRP100 as the supported redundant power supply module. Second, the bays are hot-swappable, which TP-Link says allows installing or removing a converter without powering off the chassis, so one link can be replaced or added while the other converters keep running. The datasheet also lists over-voltage and over-current protection.

Power figures come from TP-Link's specifications. The AC power supply accepts 100-240 V AC at 50/60 Hz, with a maximum input of 1.8 A, and its output is +12 V DC at up to 6.25 A. Each slot receives 5 V DC at 0.6 A, listed on the product page as 14 x 5 VDC / 0.6 A. The chassis is a standard 19-inch, 2U-high unit measuring 482 x 309 x 86 mm (19.0 x 12.2 x 3.4 in). It is rated for an operating temperature of 0 to 50 °C and storage from -40 to 70 °C, at 10 to 90% non-condensing operating humidity and 5 to 90% non-condensing storage humidity.

On cooling the official sources differ. The global product page lists a fan quantity of one and says a cooling fan is installed inside the original power supply to stabilise performance and extend its lifetime, while the 2024 combined MC1400/FC1420 datasheet marks the FC1420 as a fanless design and shows no fan quantity for it. Check the unit itself if fan noise or airflow matters in your rack. TP-Link's global product page currently marks the FC1420 as End of Life, and the product information here is taken from that global page and the hardware version 1.20 datasheet, as no Australian product page is available.

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about the FC1420 from the ARC IP Networks team.

Last reviewed October 2026.

TP-Link's datasheet states the FC1420 supports the FC series media converters. The MC1400 is the equivalent chassis for MC series converters.

Up to 14, in 14 bays.

From a central AC supply (100-240 V, 50/60 Hz, 1.8 A max) that outputs 12 V DC at up to 6.25 A, delivering 5 V DC / 0.6 A to each slot.

Yes. The bays are hot-swappable, allowing converters to be installed or removed without powering off the chassis.

Yes, an optional redundant power supply. The datasheet names the MCRP100.

Yes. It is a standard 19-inch, 2U-high chassis measuring 482 x 309 x 86 mm.

TP-Link's sources differ: the product page lists one cooling fan inside the original power supply, while the combined MC1400/FC1420 datasheet describes the FC1420 as fanless.

Both are 14-slot, 19-inch 2U chassis with the same 100-240 V AC supply and dimensions. Per the datasheet, the FC1420 takes FC series converters and supplies 5 V / 0.6 A per slot with a 0 to 50 °C operating range; the MC1400 takes MC series converters (version 2.0 and above), supplies 9 V / 0.6 A per slot, has two fans and is rated 0 to 40 °C.

Operating temperature 0 to 50 °C and storage -40 to 70 °C, with 10 to 90% non-condensing operating humidity.

TP-Link's global product page marks it as End of Life, and there is no Australian product page for it.
