The TP-Link EAP615-Wall is an Omada AX1800 Wi-Fi 6 wall plate access point that gives each room its own Wi-Fi and wired ports. It delivers 1201 Mbps on 5 GHz and 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, covers up to 50 m² with 120+ concurrent clients, and has one Gigabit PoE uplink plus three Gigabit downlink ports, one of which passes PoE through to a device such as an IP phone. It runs on 802.3af/at PoE and is managed through Omada SDN.

EAP615-Wall overview

The EAP615-Wall is TP-Link's Omada AX1800 wall plate Wi-Fi 6 access point, shown as V1.20 on the Australian page. TP-Link positions it as the ideal choice for an entry-level Wi-Fi 6 solution and as a way to give a dedicated, complete and private Wi-Fi network to each room. Rather than one ceiling AP covering several rooms through walls, the EAP615-Wall sits in the room itself, mounted on the wall plate, with guaranteed strong signals and corner-to-corner coverage of up to 50 m² (600 ft²) according to TP-Link. Coverage is calculated from laboratory testing and actual coverage will vary with client limitations and environmental factors. It supports 120+ concurrent connections.

Wi-Fi is dual-band Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax/ac/n/g/b/a): up to 1201 Mbps on 5 GHz and 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, through dual-band antennas rated at 3 dBi on 2.4 GHz and 4 dBi on 5 GHz. OFDMA lets multiple devices share channels efficiently, MU-MIMO supports more simultaneous connections, and 1024-QAM gives 25% faster data rates than Wi-Fi 5, according to TP-Link. Wireless functions include up to 16 SSIDs (eight per band), automatic channel assignment, transmit power control, WMM QoS, beamforming, rate limits, load balance, airtime fairness, band steering, schedules, RADIUS accounting and MAC authentication.

The ports are what set a wall plate AP apart. The EAP615-Wall has one Gigabit Ethernet uplink port that takes 802.3af/at PoE, and three Gigabit Ethernet downlink ports for wired devices such as smart TVs, computers or IP phones. One downlink supports PoE pass-through (pins 1,2+ and 3,6-), which requires 802.3at PoE input; TP-Link lists a maximum pass-through output of 13 W for the EU version or 12 W for the US version, based on laboratory testing. Maximum power consumption with PoE out off is 10 W (EU) or 11.5 W (US). A physical security lock is supported, and the slim housing measures 143 x 86 x 19.7 mm and weighs 0.22 kg according to the datasheet. Operating temperature is 0 to 40 °C, and the package contains the access point, mounting kit and installation guide.

For management the EAP615-Wall supports one-click setup with Omada SDN and centralised management through an Omada hardware controller, Omada software controller or the Omada cloud-based controller, plus the Omada app. Cloud access requires an Omada controller and zero-touch provisioning requires the Omada cloud-based controller. Omada mesh, seamless roaming with 802.11k/v/r and captive portal also require a controller, and the datasheet lists Omada Controller and Omada Essential V5.14.25 and above and Omada App V4.24 and above. Security covers access control, MAC filtering, wireless client isolation, VLAN, rogue AP detection, 802.1X and WPA/WPA2/WPA3 Personal and Enterprise. Standalone management includes HTTP/HTTPS web management, SSH, SNMP v1/v2c/v3, local and remote syslog, L3 and multi-site management, a management VLAN and LED control. It is CE and FCC certified.
