The TP-Link EAP603-Outdoor is an Omada AX1800 Wi-Fi 6 indoor/outdoor access point with up to 1201 Mbps on 5 GHz and 573 Mbps on 2.4 GHz through two pairs of external omni antennas. TP-Link lists coverage of up to 300 m on 5 GHz and 200 m on 2.4 GHz, a fully sealed IP66 (wall) / IP65 (pole) enclosure, 250+ associated clients, built-in Bluetooth, one Gigabit port powered by 802.3at PoE+, and Omada SDN management with seamless roaming.

EAP603-Outdoor overview

The EAP603-Outdoor is TP-Link's Omada AX1800 indoor/outdoor Wi-Fi 6 access point, shown as V1 on the Australian page. It brings Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) to outdoor spaces: up to 1201 Mbps on 5 GHz (802.11a/n/ac/ax) and up to 573 Mbps on 2.4 GHz (802.11b/g/n/ax), with 2x2 radios on each band. TP-Link describes long-range omnidirectional coverage from external antennas equipped with high-power amplifiers, providing strong and expansive wireless coverage to various outdoor environments. Listed coverage is up to 300 m (3,200 ft as stated on the page) on 5 GHz and up to 200 m on 2.4 GHz; coverage figures are laboratory values, and actual range varies with clients and the surroundings. TP-Link notes country-specific restrictions apply to signal rates.

The antennas are external omnidirectional types: two 5 dBi on 5 GHz and two 4 dBi on 2.4 GHz (single-antenna peak gain), plus an internal 4 dBi Bluetooth antenna. Capacity is listed at 250+ associated stations with up to 16 BSSIDs (eight per band). Wireless features include a guest network, automatic channel selection, airtime fairness, band steering, 802.11 rate control, WLAN optimisation, lock to AP, SSID and client rate limits, load balance, QoS and multicast/broadcast management including multicast-to-unicast conversion. Seamless roaming covers 802.11k/v/r, non-stick roaming, ping-pong roaming suppression and AI roaming. Transmit power is adjustable in 1 dBm steps and depends on local regulations.

TP-Link describes the EAP603-Outdoor as fully sealed, with complete dustproof protection and the ability to withstand prolonged submersion in water. The enclosure is rated IP66 when wall mounted and IP65 when pole mounted, and both pole and wall mounting kits are included. Operating temperature is -30 to 70 °C with 10 to 90% non-condensing humidity, and a grounding terminal is provided next to the Ethernet port. The main unit measures 230 x 207.5 x 69.7 mm. Power is 802.3at PoE+ (42.5 to 57 V, 0.36 A) through the single Gigabit Ethernet port; maximum consumption is 15.8 W with both radios active and a 1 Gbps wired link, and idle consumption is 4.8 W. The package lists a passive PoE adapter and power cord alongside the access point, mounting kit and installation guide.

Security is enterprise-grade: WPA, WPA2 and WPA3 Personal and Enterprise, Enhanced Open, 802.1X and MAC-based authentication, RADIUS accounting, PPSK with or without RADIUS, ACL and MAC filtering, rogue AP detection and URL filtering. Captive portal options include simple password, hotspot vouchers, local users, SMS, RADIUS and form authentication, external LDAP or portal servers, pre-authentication access and authentication-free clients. For management, Omada SDN allows quick setup through automatic device identification and one-click adoption, with centralised management through an Omada hardware controller, Omada software controller, Omada Central (cloud-based) or the Omada app; cloud access requires an Omada controller. Standalone management via the web interface, SSH, SNMP v1/v2c/v3, NTP, email alerts, LED control, management MAC access control and backup and restore are also listed. It is CE and FCC certified.
