The TP-Link EAP110 is an Omada 300 Mbps Wireless N (Wi-Fi 4) ceiling mount access point. It has a 2.4 GHz 2x2 MIMO radio with two internal 4 dBi omni antennas, one Fast Ethernet port powered by 24 V passive PoE (adapter included), up to eight SSIDs, load balancing and WMM QoS, and integrates into Omada SDN for centralised management with an Omada controller.

EAP110 overview

The EAP110 is TP-Link's Omada 300 Mbps Wireless N ceiling mount access point, which TP-Link describes as an affordable, scalable business Wi-Fi solution. It is a single-band access point on 2.4 GHz (2.400 to 2.4835 GHz ISM) built to IEEE 802.11b/g/n, and it delivers smooth Wi-Fi 4 of up to 300 Mbps with 2x2 MIMO. Listed signal rates are up to 300 Mbps for 11n, 54 Mbps for 11g and 11 Mbps for 11b, all dynamic. TP-Link notes that maximum wireless signal rates are the physical rates derived from IEEE Standard 802.11 specifications, and that actual wireless data throughput, coverage and connected devices are not guaranteed and will vary with internet service provider factors, network conditions, client limitations and environmental factors, including building materials, obstacles, volume and density of traffic and client location.

Two internal 4 dBi omni antennas sit inside the 189.5 x 170.5 x 29.7 mm (7.5 x 6.7 x 1.2 in) housing, and ceiling and wall mounting kits are included. TP-Link lists coverage of up to 60 square metres (650 sq ft); this value is calculated from laboratory testing, and actual coverage is not guaranteed and will vary with client limitations and environmental factors. It supports 100 concurrent clients; TP-Link notes that actual capacity depends on the wireless environment and client traffic and is generally less than the maximum number of client connections. Transmit power is listed as 10 to 19 dBm EIRP under CE and 6 to 21 dBm under FCC on 2.4 GHz, with transmit power control in dBm steps. For network performance, load balance, scheduling and QoS (WMM) work together to deliver a smooth and responsive experience.

Wiring is simple. The EAP110 has one 10/100 Mbps Fast Ethernet port that TP-Link says provides a reliable wired connection for standard network access, and it is powered by 24 V / 0.5 A passive PoE (pins 4 and 5 positive, 7 and 8 negative). The passive PoE adapter and a power cord are in the box, so power and data reach the access point on one cable. Maximum power consumption is 2.8 W. Wireless functions include up to eight SSIDs for a secure guest network, enable and disable of the wireless radio, automatic channel assignment, rate limiting, reboot and wireless schedules, and wireless statistics by SSID, AP or client. TP-Link also lists 802.11r seamless roaming; it notes that this feature requires the use of an Omada on-premises controller.

Security covers captive portal authentication (TP-Link highlights SMS login), access control, wireless MAC address filtering, wireless isolation between clients, SSID-to-VLAN mapping, rogue AP detection, 802.1X and WEP, WPA/WPA2-Enterprise and WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK encryption. For management, the EAP110 integrates into Omada SDN for one-click setup, with centralised management through an Omada hardware or software controller and the Omada app; cloud access requires an Omada on-premises controller. It also offers HTTP/HTTPS web management, SSH, SNMP v1/v2c/v3, local and remote syslog, L3 management, multi-site management, a management VLAN, management MAC access control and LED on/off control. It is rated for 0 to 40 degrees C operation and carries CE and FCC certification. In the box are the EAP110, a passive PoE adapter, a power cord, mounting kits and an installation guide. ARC IP Networks supplies the EAP110 from Australian stock with the full manufacturer's warranty.
