The TP-Link EAP110-Outdoor is an Omada 300 Mbps Wireless N (Wi-Fi 4) outdoor access point for outdoor scenarios such as yards, swimming pools and parks. It has a 2.4 GHz 2x2 MIMO radio, two detachable 3 dBi omnidirectional antennas, an IP65 weatherproof enclosure, 6kV lightning protection, and a Fast Ethernet port powered by 24 V passive PoE, with Omada SDN management.

EAP110-Outdoor overview

The EAP110-Outdoor is TP-Link's Omada 300 Mbps Wireless N outdoor access point. TP-Link describes it as providing fast, stable outdoor network connections and names suitable outdoor scenarios such as yards, swimming pools and parks. It is a single-band 2.4 GHz access point built to IEEE 802.11b/g/n, with 2x2 MIMO and two spatial streams, 20 MHz and 40 MHz channel bandwidths and wireless data rates from 8.6 Mbps up to 300 Mbps (MCS0 to MCS7, HT20/40). The datasheet lists 64-QAM, A-MPDU and A-MSDU frame aggregation, MRC, transmit beamforming, CDD, CSD, STBC and LDPC. TP-Link's Wi-Fi 4 description notes that MIMO enhances throughput, scheduling bundles data packets to reduce overhead, and QoS gives essential applications priority during busy periods.

Two external omnidirectional antennas of 3 dBi peak gain are waterproof and detachable, which TP-Link says means other antennas can also be attached for specific demands. Maximum transmit power is 20 dBm EIRP (CE) or 22 dBm conducted (FCC), adjustable in 1 dBm increments. The enclosure is rated IP65, which TP-Link describes as complete dustproof protection that withstands heavy rain and water splashes, and the access point adds 6kV surge and lightning protection and 4kV contact / 8kV air ESD protection. The main unit measures 214.9 x 46 x 26.7 mm without antennas and mounting kit and weighs 0.15 kg; TP-Link compares its size to a mobile phone and says its appearance also suits indoor applications. Pole and wall mounting kits are included.

Power and data share a single 10/100 Mbps Fast Ethernet port that accepts 24 V passive PoE, so no separate power adapter or power cord is needed at the mounting point. A 24 V passive PoE adapter is included, which TP-Link marks for dry indoor use only, together with a power cord, a waterproof rubber insert and the waterproof antennas. Wireless features include up to eight SSIDs with SSID-to-VLAN mapping, automatic channel assignment, transmit power control, 802.11r seamless roaming (layer 2 only, and TP-Link notes seamless roaming requires an Omada controller), WMM QoS, load balancing, rate limiting, airtime fairness, reboot and wireless schedules, and statistics per SSID, AP or client. The datasheet lists up to 100 associated clients and AP and repeater operating modes.

Security covers WPA/WPA2-Personal and Enterprise, PPSK with or without RADIUS, 802.1X, MAC-based authentication, wireless MAC address filtering, client isolation, rogue AP detection and URL filtering, and captive portal options, which TP-Link notes require an Omada controller, include hotspot authentication by voucher, local user, SMS, RADIUS or form, plus external portal servers. For management, the EAP110-Outdoor can run standalone through its HTTP/HTTPS web interface, or as part of Omada SDN with an Omada hardware or software controller (Omada Controller and Omada Essential V6.2 and above) and the Omada App V5.1 and above. TP-Link says Omada SDN integration allows one-click adoption and automatic device discovery, and that cloud access requires an Omada controller via web or app. SSH, SNMP v1/v2c, local/remote syslog and a management VLAN are also listed. ARC IP Networks supplies the EAP110-Outdoor from Australian stock with the full manufacturer's warranty.
