The Synology DS425+ in depth

Compact 4-bay storage with fast networking

The DS425+ packs four SATA bays and two M.2 NVMe slots into a desktop chassis measuring 166 x 199 x 223 mm. A built-in 2.5GbE port gives faster-than-gigabit transfers out of the box, with a second 1GbE port for failover. Synology rates it at up to 278/281 MB/s sequential read/write in its own testing.

One platform for files, backup and collaboration

DiskStation Manager provides file sharing and sync with Synology Drive, photo management with Synology Photos, and real-time collaboration with Synology Office, Chat and Calendar. Active Backup Suite, Hyper Backup and Snapshot Replication protect PCs, servers, VMs and SaaS data without per-device licence fees, and immutable snapshots help guard against ransomware.

Surveillance and remote management

Surveillance Station turns the DS425+ into a network video recorder supporting more than 8,700 IP camera models, with 2 licences included and up to 40 x 1080p cameras supported. QuickConnect, Adaptive Multi-Factor Authentication and Active Insight fleet monitoring make secure remote access and management straightforward.
