The TP-Link DR3150 is an Omada gigabit desktop DSL gateway for small businesses: a VDSL2/ADSL2+/ADSL2/ADSL gateway supporting VDSL2 profile 35b at up to 350 Mbps, four gigabit RJ45 ports (one WAN/LAN), two USB 2.0 ports for an LTE dongle or storage, IPsec, OpenVPN, WireGuard, L2TP, PPTP and GRE VPN, and centralised management through Omada SDN.

DR3150 overview

The DR3150 is an Omada gigabit desktop DSL gateway, combining an RJ11 DSL port with gigabit Ethernet and USB connectivity. TP-Link describes it as an ideal IP-based connection for small businesses, and it supports VDSL2, ADSL2+, ADSL2 and ADSL lines for broad ISP compatibility. On VDSL2 it covers profiles 8a, 8b, 8c, 8d, 12a, 12b, 17a and 35b (ITU G.993.2 and ITU-T G.997.1), and TP-Link rates its DSL speed at up to 350 Mbps with 35b; TP-Link notes that maximum wired signal rates are physical rates and that actual throughput is not guaranteed. ADSL2+ (ITU-T G.992.5), ADSL2 (G.992.3) and ADSL (G.992.1 G.dmt and G.992.2 G.lite) are also supported. The package includes a phone cable and an external splitter alongside the power adapter and an Ethernet cable.

Beyond the RJ11 DSL port, the DR3150 has four gigabit RJ45 ports, one configurable as WAN or LAN and three LAN, plus two USB 2.0 ports. TP-Link lists load balancing on up to two WAN ports, so a DSL service and an Ethernet WAN can share traffic using intelligent load balancing, application-optimised routing and link backup by timing or on failover, with online detection. The USB ports accept a USB LTE dongle and USB storage; TP-Link notes that two USB storage devices can be used at the same time, but only one LTE dongle at a time for LTE backup. Rated performance includes 50,000 concurrent sessions, 2,500 new sessions per second, 945 Mbps upload and download NAT throughput on static IP and DHCP, 940 Mbps on PPPoE, and DPI throughput of 995 Mbps TCP and 762 Mbps UDP. TP-Link notes these rated figures are based on test results using specific software, and performance may vary with the actual scenario.

VPN support is broad. The DR3150 handles 20 IPsec tunnels (LAN-to-LAN and client-to-LAN, IKE v1/v2, AES up to 256-bit, NAT-T, DPD, PFS and IPsec failover), 50 OpenVPN tunnels, 16 L2TP and 16 PPTP tunnels, WireGuard, and GRE in Standalone Mode, and it can act as a VPN client to up to 10 VPN servers. TP-Link's rated VPN throughput is 230 Mbps for ESP-SHA1-AES256 IPsec, 66 Mbps for WireGuard and 15 Mbps for OpenVPN, again as rated test results. In Controller Mode, Omada SD-WAN connects branch offices to headquarters in a few clicks without complex VPN setup. Security features include stateful, IPv4/IPv6, country-based and FQDN access control lists, TCP/UDP/ICMP flood defence, stealth scan blocking, IP-MAC binding, ARP detection, URL filtering, DNSSEC, DoH and DoT, and deep packet inspection that recognises 2,466 application types.

The DR3150 can run on its own through its web interface, CLI (Standalone Mode only), SNMP v1/v2c/v3, syslog and TR-069, or join Omada SDN alongside Omada access points and managed switches. Centralised management is available through Omada Central (cloud-based), an Omada hardware controller or the Omada software controller, and the Omada app and cloud access require an Omada controller. Under a controller you get automatic device discovery, intelligent network monitoring, abnormal event warnings, unified configuration, reboot schedules and captive portal configuration, while zero-touch provisioning is supported only with the Omada Cloud-Based Controller. Hotspot authentication covers local users, plus voucher, SMS and RADIUS in Controller Mode. The 158 x 101 x 25 mm desktop or wall-mount unit runs from an external 12 V / 2 A adapter. ARC IP Networks supplies the DR3150 from Australian stock with the full manufacturer's warranty.
