Transceiver FAQ — DGS-712

What is the DGS-712?

The D-Link DGS-712 is a gigabit sfp to rj45 transceiver — a hot-pluggable optical transceiver that installs in an SFP/SFP+/QSFP+ slot on a D-Link switch.

Which D-Link switches is the DGS-712 compatible with?

D-Link transceivers work with all D-Link switches that have the matching slot form factor (SFP / SFP+ / QSFP+ / QSFP28) — DGS-1210, DGS-1510, DGS-3120, DXS-1210, DXS-3610 and similar. Third-party switches may require unlocking, which D-Link does not guarantee.

What cabling does the DGS-712 require?

Refer to the specs table for the fibre type and wavelength. Single-mode (SMF) for long-reach LX/LR variants, multi-mode (MMF) for short-reach SX/SR variants.

Is the DGS-712 industrial-grade?

The DGS-712 is a commercial-grade transceiver. For industrial variants, see the D-Link DIS-S series.

What warranty does the DGS-712 include?

D-Link ships most transceivers with a Limited Lifetime Warranty. ARC IP Networks handles warranty claims locally in Australia.

Professional Overview

The D-Link DGS-712 — 1000Base-TX RJ45 SFP Transceiver - 100m

Data rate, wavelength, fibre type, insertion loss budget, DDM / DOM capability, and operating temperature range are documented in the Specifications table above. Industrial DIS-S variants extend the operating temperature range for harsh environments.

The DGS-712 is hot-pluggable — install in any compatible D-Link switch SFP/SFP+/QSFP slot with the switch powered on. Third-party switches (Cisco, Juniper, HPE) commonly enforce vendor lock and may refuse non-branded optics, so verify compatibility if cross-connecting.

The DGS-712 is genuine D-Link Australia stock held by ARC IP Networks. Lifetime limited warranty, no DDM lock-in, and pre-sales consultation on fibre type matching and link budget are included.
