The TP-Link Deco X50-PoE (3-pack) is a three-unit AX3000 Wi-Fi 6 whole home mesh system with PoE: 2402 Mbps on 5 GHz (HE160) and 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz per unit, one 2.5 Gbps and one gigabit port, power from 802.3at PoE or the included 12 V DC adapter, tabletop, wall, ceiling or junction box mounting, HomeShield security and Deco app setup.

Deco X50-PoE(3-pack) overview

The Deco X50-PoE is a Wi-Fi 6 Deco whole home mesh unit designed for flexible installation, and this 3-pack contains three units. Each one is an AX3000 dual-band Wi-Fi 6 unit with Wi-Fi speeds of 2402 Mbps on 5 GHz (802.11ax, HE160) and 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz (802.11ax), supporting IEEE 802.11ax/ac/n/a on 5 GHz and 802.11ax/n/b/g on 2.4 GHz. Four internal antennas form a signal-boosting array, and 2x2 MU-MIMO and OFDMA let each unit communicate with multiple clients simultaneously across four streams. The units work together as a mesh using TP-Link Mesh technology with optional Ethernet backhaul, and the specification lists AI-Driven Mesh, which learns the network environment to provide Wi-Fi unique to your home.

What sets the X50-PoE apart from a standard Deco is how it is powered and installed. TP-Link designed it to use a single Ethernet cable for both data and power: each unit accepts 802.3at PoE, and it also supports 12 V DC from the power adapter included for each unit. Each Deco has one 2.5 Gbps port and one gigabit port, both supporting WAN/LAN auto-sensing. TP-Link describes this as Power over Ethernet for simplified network deployment: the units can be powered from an 802.3at PoE source, or by their included DC adapters.

Placement is equally flexible. TP-Link says you can place a Deco X50-PoE on a tabletop or install it on a ceiling or wall with the adaptive accessories, and that it can be mounted to a wall, ceiling or junction box using the provided screws; ceiling/wall mounting kits are included in the package. Each unit measures 154 x 154 x 68.6 mm, and TP-Link describes the design as compact and elegant so it blends into various home decorations. Each Deco can run in router mode or access point mode. TP-Link states all Deco models can work together, so you can simply add another Deco when you want more coverage.

Security includes an SPI firewall, access control and HomeShield Security, with real-time IoT protection, a malicious site blocker, an intrusion prevention system, DDoS attack prevention and a home network scanner, plus WPA, WPA2 and WPA3-Personal Wi-Fi encryption and 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz guest networks. HomeShield parental controls cover YouTube restriction, SafeSearch, custom profiles, content filtering, Family Time, Bedtime, Off Time and weekly and monthly reports. Setup and management are in the Deco app, which TP-Link says takes three easy steps and lets you see every connected device, prioritise your own and set up a guest network, and the system works with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. ARC IP Networks supplies the Deco X50-PoE (3-pack) from Australian stock with the full manufacturer's warranty.
