The DAP140 Industrial Wireless Access Point in depth

Industrial Wi-Fi 4 access point with mesh and Fast Roaming

The DAP140 is designed to enhance Wi-Fi coverage and performance in industrial environments. It operates as IEEE 802.11b/g/n (Wi-Fi 4) in Access Point, Client (STA), Mesh (802.11s) and Multi AP modes, and supports up to 50 simultaneous connections. Fast roaming (802.11r), Radio Resource Measurement (802.11k) and BSS Transition Management (802.11v) help clients move between access points. Security options include WPA2-PSK, WPA3-SAE, WPA-EAP, WPA3-EAP and OWE, plus MAC-based allowlist and blocklist filtering.

Built for industrial installation

The DAP140 includes an integrated DIN rail bracket, a 3-pin power connector and an anodised aluminium housing with panels. It accepts 9-30 VDC with reverse polarity and surge protection, and can also be powered through the LAN2 port using passive PoE (Mode B, 9-30 VDC). Note that the passive PoE is not compatible with IEEE 802.3af, 802.3at or 802.3bt. Power consumption is under 1 W at idle and under 2 W at maximum. It operates from -40 °C to 75 °C and is rated IP30. Wall mount and flat surface mounting need an additional kit.

Networking, VPN and management features

Running RutOS, the DAP140 provides routing, firewall, VLAN, QoS and network backup features, along with VPN options including OpenVPN, IPsec, WireGuard, GRE and others. For industrial and IoT use it supports Modbus TCP, MQTT, OPC UA, DNP3, DLMS/COSEM and BACnet, along with Data to Server. It can be managed through the WebUI, SSH, SNMP and Teltonika Remote Management System (RMS), with FOTA firmware updates.
