Figures from Cisco's official data sheet.

The Cisco CW9800H1 in depth

Large-scale control in 1RU

The CW9800H1 packs scale for up to 6000 access points and 64,000 clients into one rack unit, with Cisco positioning it for higher performance and lower power use than the Catalyst 9800-80. Cisco's end-of-sale notice for the 9800-80 names the CW9800H1 and CW9800H2 as replacements.

H1 versus H2

The CW9800H1 is the four-port 25G uplink model with eight additional 1/10G SFP+ ports.

Resilience and licensing

SSO, N+1, ISSU and hot patching keep the network running through failures and upgrades. No licence is needed to boot, but every AP that connects needs a Cisco DNA or Cisco Networking subscription.
