The Cisco CW9179F in depth

Built for large venues

The 9179F is Cisco's Wi-Fi 7 access point for stadiums, arenas, festivals and airports. Cisco's Wi-Fi 6 indoor end-of-life notice names it as the migration product for the Catalyst 9130AXE with stadium antenna (C9130AXE-STA).

Beams set in software

Instead of external antennas, the internal antenna offers boresight, wide and front-and-back beam configurations selected in software, from 12 dBi boresight to 3 dBi back.

Indoor or outdoor

The AP ships with the Indoor Environment Pack fitted. For outdoor use Cisco says to always install the CW-ACC-9179-B-00 outdoor pack to keep IP65 or IP67, and the CW-ACC-9179-CVR solar shield is required for 45-50°C outdoor sites.

Yes. Cisco states the 9179F requires a Cisco Networking Subscription for wireless, either Essentials or Advantage licences.

Cisco describes it as global use hardware that intelligently selects its regulatory domain and location, so no regulatory domain part number is needed.
