Figures from Cisco's official data sheet.

The Cisco C9130AXE-Z in depth

8x8 Wi-Fi 6 with external antennas

Cisco describes the Catalyst 9130AX as the first access point to offer an 8x8 radio architecture with external antennas. The 9130AXE is built for challenging indoor environments, runs from -20 to 50°C, and the -Z part number is the Australia/New Zealand regulatory domain version.

DART-8 smart antenna connector

Antennas plug into a single 8-port DART connector. Self-identifying DART antennas connect directly; conventional RP-TNC antennas such as the AIR-ANT2566P4W 4-port patch use the AIR-CAB002-D8-R= breakout cable (up to 6 dBi), while N-type antennas up to 13 dBi use the AIR-CAB003-D8-N= cable. Using a DART adapter cable puts the AP into legacy antenna mode.

Lifecycle

The AP is managed by Cisco Catalyst 9800 controllers. Cisco has announced end-of-sale for the C9130AXE-Z on December 31, 2026, with support to December 31, 2031, and lists the Wireless 9174E as its migration product.
